A Vicarious Vacation

Since we have already established the sad fact that I have a little issue with living my children's lives, I thought I should tell you that "we" are going on a vacation.  Yes sir.  It is 7 degrees here this morning, and the Mental Rugrats are on a plane right this very minute.  A plane to Costa Rica.  Yep.  Where I just checked the weather and it is a sunny 77 degrees at 7:30 in the morning.  Yep.  They are going with their father and stepmother.  Yep.  I was not invited.

What brats.
Guess I'll go shovel some more snow.
What excitement does everyone else have planned?

I'm sorry...

I'm off to coordinate our after holiday party. The board of directors will be there. I've been wrestling with the caterers all week. It will either be my finest hour or I'll be in the Exec's office Monday morning apologizing...

I don't understand why you weren't invited. You NEED to be warm, just like your children.

It was a balmy 10 degrees here this morning. It's warmed up nicely since the sun came up - it's now 14. Tomorrow? It's predicted to be 5. I may not get out of bed.....

Well, I was on my way to Mexico with a girlfriend but "the better half" blew a gasket and FORBID me to go! I was wild...so I didn't. Now, there is talk that he is planning a trip with his best friend and his wife to go to Vegas...with us!....we are not going...Tit for tat. Now, he is not impressed...ahhh what goes around eventually comes around. I am a firm believer in that! Am hoping we will get some common ground before 2009 is done and go for a holiday somewhere...might blog about that today...thanks for the idea!

MM have the kids send you some pictures and you can photo crop yourself into them and pretend. That way you really feel the warmth of the 77 degrees.

It will be plenty warm here when you visit this summer...

My kids are with their father and stepmother this weekend, so I am free to do what I do best: nothing.

Lucky Mental Kids. Can they do a guest blog and post some pictures so we can all live vicariously through them?

If it's the kids you're missing~I can send Little T over for the week end! You are smarter than a 5th grader right?

I need snow so badly.

Love you,

Marlene

Such a BEAUTIFUL pic!
We've gone up to a whooping -11 (windchill -29)
Sounds like HEAVEN at this moment!
I envy your kids...maybe they can bring back some of that warmth!
Have a Safe and FUN, Warm Weekend!

Mama, don't feel bad...all that heat would just ratchet up the MentalP thing, that's what I keep telling myself.

Darn! A nice vacation to a warm climate would be good for you!

Personally, I am just trying to stay warm in this cold Texas temperature!

Those poor children. They may burn the tender skin on the undersides of their feet on the hot beach sand. They may sunburn their noses and shoulders. And you know they'll be thinking about this when they're sweating and only have a blue ocean to cool them off. They'll be thinking that they could be home, wrapped up in scarves, mittens and sipping hot cocoa by a fire with their mama. I am sure you will be missed.

Those kids have a hell of a nerve.

Oh, maybe the step mother will get an awful sun burn...oh, I shouldn't wish nasties on other people.
I have no plans for this weekend. Maybe go to a wine and cheese party, but the way I'm feeling...chances not lookin so good.

I have to clean out my attic and my garage this weekend ... yahoo.

the nerve! going someplace sunny while you freeze. I hope it rains at least one day on them. :-)

Still...Im freezing and my inlaws are coming. The only thing that would be worse if my own mother was on her way.

Awwww... couldn't you have talked them into stuffing you in a trunk? Talk about a great diet, lol!

Come see me...we are in the high 70's today and then I'l come see you in the summer when I can't stand it anymore....

the nerve of your children's father not inviting you...how long do you GET TO BE ALONE...that is my dream vacation...to be alone for a little while...

Debbie said...

We know they wanted you to go Mama...don't we?

I also can't imagine why in the world they wouldn't take you along. Maybe Squazz will feel sorry for you and do something special while they are gone.

I know you'll miss them and I hope they have a good time even without their mama. :(

Conjure up a hot flash - it'll be just like being there!

I'm flying to Paris for a quick shopping spree and then dinner with a friend. Sorry I didn't ask you along.

I feel your pain as well. For years, the oldest got to go to Mexico with her mother & stepfather each spring break, while her dad & I hung out in the Midwest and shoveled snow. Good times I tell ya, good times. :-)

Those lucky children, Costa Rica is so beautiful! I wonder why you couldn't go?

Egghead said...

Oh that is sad. So join the ranks of me. All my children have traveled to different countries, Spain, Greece, England, Scotland, Australia, France, Germany...on and on. Here I sit.....boo hoo. My youngest sister went to Costa Rica and loved it. I hear it is really a great place to go.

I am on a cruise ship and we get into port at Cozumel tomorrow where I have a great lunch and shopping trip planned and a massage when I get back on the boat to sail off to more glorious weather.

Um, well, actually I am in my hospital room not snuggled up to even the cat. Oh well, maybe when I get out of here on Monday I can plan that trip.

I agree it doesn't seem fair. It is only 1 degree here where I live in Ohio this morning but it is better than -14 we had yesterday. Love that photo.

Costa Rica? What's so great about Costa Rica? Sand. Perfect weather. Relaxation. Blah, blah, blah. You have us :)

Doesn't his vacation with the kidlets provides you with one, without them? Not quite the same.. I know. :)
