Telltale Signs

It is 58 days until the first day of Spring,
and I have detected something ever so wonderful.
The goldfinches are starting to look a little more, well, gold.
See?
It's a beautiful thing.
And this crew?
The UN of my back yard?
There is a little border skirmish heating up...
In the southern hemisphere.
I am pretending those ones on top are the peacekeepers.

I've noticed more song birds myself. Also, there are daffodils sprouting in my yard, although these particular ones are notoriously early bloomers. It won't be too long before spring, then summer, then BLOG FEST!

I pretend things, too. I give the squirrels names and invent personalities for them. Then I post about it. Unfortunately, when I read it the next day I think what the hell was I thinking!

These are good shots! Spring will be good.

AWESOME pix! I need to get one of those bird feeders.

Thinking again, maybe not...

I do have bird dogs.

Mental P, How long do you sit with your camera on a tri-pod and wait for the birds to come back. I so often glance out my window and see the feeders coved with beautiful birds. No matter how I open the door to go out, off they go. Do you have a screen less window with your camera ready? Your photos age great! I have noticed that the male cardinals are the peekest. They are even peekie with each other.

These shots are fantastic!! Even here in Arizona our hummingbirds leave for the winter and I saw one about a week ago. It's very exciting for us bird-watcher types.

That last shot is just beautiful! And I have not a one goldfinch over here! Possibly because the damn squirrels have eaten through two finch feeders and I haven't gotten around to replacing them. Sorry finches!

W-O-W! Your photos are awesome! I hope spring arrives early this year. I am way over winter and ready to move on to warmer temps and the start of pool season.

Those are great shots! I was so used to nice birds in CA, so I hung a bird feeder here in TX and I had a zillion ugly black birds who fought like crazy and started dive bombing me....so the feeder stays, but it's empty. Those birds though are something else! They won't even move when you walk down the sidewalk...they just stare at you...

I can't wait to meet you in Mathews at blogfest!

and you too...down here in the VA.

Beautiful Pictures!! GREAT Camera!
We are so ready for Spring here...but we will not see a sign of a daffodil or crocus till at least March!
It's still snowing as I type and I need to refill the feeder...like NOW...When they sit on the railing and look in through the patio door...you know their plate is empty! Have a GREAT Sunday!

MPM...quite amazing photos, my dear! Love that you captured the little darlings feeding. But I swear our yellow finches are...well...more yellow! Perhaps only the girls were out feeding today...it's the little boy finches that are vibrant in color. Isn't that always the case!

And Kate, I have been known to name my little squirrels...guess I'm not as nuts as I thought.
