doggoneit! Send that bird my way. I've been patiently sitting with my zoom lens, waiting to capture a gorgeous shot of a finch...ever since I coerced my dh into moving the thistle feeder closer to the house. No luck.
Those pictures are awesome. By the time I open the door to take a picture, they are always gone. However, I've never had any like those. Once I had a tree full of Mississippi Kites, which was fairly creepy, but that was back before I had a digital.
I love how yellow your finches are, mp. Ours are also! My husband said today that we needed a bigger lens than the zoom we already have. I'm not going to say no to new camera equipment!
Thank you all for your thoughts! I love my goldfinches, and because I keep their thistle feeders up all year, I have them all year. They get a dusky color in the winter, but this year, the males got their bright color back very soon. And because they are used to us, they stay there eating away even when we walk right up to them! I love this time of year!

Such colorful beautiful birds. Love the pictures.
Wow, those are strikingly beautiful little critters.
Your birds are lovely....
I've not yet found a shooting mode that makes me look as thin as I'd like. I may have to resort to photo shop!

Hey, I found your blog while browsing through Dooce...if you ask me birds are totally over-rated. But then...you didn't ask me now did you??
