When my children were very young, I read a lot of books on parenting. And one of them said that the art of parenting is learning the ability to let go, even from a very early age. You are a wonderful mother. I can tell that by your posts and from meeting you recently. Your children are beautiful, but you know this already. What you don't know yet is that your heart is going to stop breaking. And a new sense of normal will prevail.
Beautiful- The hardest thing is to let go- I still have a few years left with my youngest....It pulls on your heart! He will be the hardest to let go of. They are such a joy. Lets bite our tongue and move forward!
I'm at the letting go stage in my kids' lives also - it's tough. As excited as I get when I think about them leading their adult lives, I miss them equally. I have loved motherhood every step of the way.
While I'm not one to question the teachings of great poets/artists of the past - but old Kahil never pushed a 9 1/2 pound baby from his body or he would have never said that. :)
I'm not sure I am smart enough to understand that quote, but I do know that it must be ever so painful watch them both transition away at the same time. Is it too late for another baby?
Are you kidding me??? You will be running back and forth from this college and that. You will not slow down one bit. Yes, life will be different, but it will still be good. I bet it is harder when they BOTH go off to college at the same time...I at least had one left when oldest went. And when second one went she went to live with oldest. And they both were only an hour away. Big difference from your situation. But I am hoping you will adjust quickly and enjoy the new life and what the next chapter brings. Love to you and your family!!!!
You are a wonderful mother! But I do know the feelings in a heart of a mother about to let her little one's fly the coop.....here's a big ol' tight hug just for you!!!!!!
Woman, you still have a lot to share with these kids. Graduation from high school is JUST the beginning. I promise, you will be okay. Not normal, but okay :)

This is the beginning of the next phase of parenthood. I cannot fathom it yet but my Mom tells me it has the best of all.....
I love your title! It sounds like you're trying to enjoy this as much as humanly possible, and that's a good approach. I'm rooting!

I have to ask. What color socks did Augie wear? And Baby Bird's eyes are so beautiful!
