Say It Ain't So....

It appears that the Mental P Rugrats are not the only household members heading for new adventures and different horizons.
Mental P has been conducting a little test of her own.
And guess what?
There may be a new adventure for her.

An allergy to chardonnay.

I will not know for a month or so.
But in the meantime, I plan on taking advantage of the massive doses of prednisone coursing through my system to get some stuff done around here.
gah

How're those wonder drugs working this morning?

Honey, I'm sorry about the prednisone. Hopefully you're on a short dose and it doesn't mess you up for too long.
Sending steroid hugs your way!

Heaven FORBID! Let's HOPE NOT!
That would be disastrous for me!
It has to be "something else"!!!

Sulfite allergy?

I hear you though on the wonders of pred- more than once it has saved me from suffering.

Hang in there, there's always vodka.

Huh? Really, there is such a thing? I get all the pin pricks on Thursday to see what the H-E-double hockey sticks is wrong with me. *sigh*

Let's hope it's not all alcohol. (says the enabler).

Keetha said...

Joking, right? I've never heard of such. Your doctor must be pulling your leg.

I hope.

Decadent Housewife said...

Oh my. Let's hope it's sulphites and not grapes.

If you are serious, LOL, I cannot drink wine without getting a horrid headache. Reds are out and I don't care for the white wines. Thank goodness I have vodka! A spectacular alternative, MPM.

Well, it must not be just Chard...white wines are treated with large amounts of sulfites (more so than reds) in order to keep them from being oxidized or they would be brown.

Too bad woman.

Don't you hate it when something you love, turns on you? Go easy on the prednisone.

Funny thing allergies. I'm sorry though. Enjoy the hazy feeling and increased appetite of the steroids. At least you have an excuse :)

Well hon, I found out MANY years later that drinking alcohol was causing my cluster headaches (research - they are hell). I love drinking a few cold beers and can't do it. It took from age 15 to about 45 to make the connection.

I'm hoping it's stress in your case cause I know you love your wine. Yes, you will accomplish great things on Pred LOL!

Hallie is everywhere LOL and I had a thought but will just keep it.

Oh no - say it isn't so, just as summer is beginning to bloom. Oh well, maybe a margarita, can take it's place.

Surely this is some sort of evil joke your Dr. is playing on you. Maybe you're being Punk'd!

imom said...

The last 3 times I've had chardonny I got a raging headache. No more white wine for me. Red does not cause headaches, so even though it's summer I'll be drinking reds. Must be the sulfites noble pig mentioned.

I hope you don't have to stay on the steroid for long!

I"m going to exit out of this blog, walk into the bathroom, slap some cold water on my face, rub my eyes and then log back on again.

Because surely I am hallucinating. There simply is no way what I am reading can possibly be true.

I'm going to mull this over while enjoying a nice (albeit cheap) merlot.

p.s. What about pinot grigio??

Actually, my B-I-L found out that he was allergic to white wine & has been fine with it ever since starting allergy drops. Woot for good drugs!

Of course, there is always my poison of choice... Vodka. You can drink it chilled in little shot glasses & yell "Nastrovia!" after each shot. Waaaay more fun.

Get out of the city. I didn't know you could be allergic to that. Hope you are able to conquer the tasks! Good luck!

you aren't serious, for reals? GAH and double GAH!
I have one word of comfort for you,
MERLOT.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the other night and I've NEVER heard of such a ridiculous thing!

NO! Well...well...if you can't be a wine diva then you will have to be some other kind of diva - like a chocolate diva. I'm feeling a little speechless which is not normal for me. This is just sub-par. Find a new doctor I say! This may mean that the world is going to end in 2012. Shocking news.

Sandie said...

Gah. Good luck with that. I was on prednisone once for a short stint---didn't care for it one bit. Who woulda thought you could be allergic to Chardonnay. What a drag. Hugs to you!

Nurse Nancy said...

Don't despair....I thought I had the same horrible issue. Turned out it was allergies to other foods. Once I controlled those, Chardonnay re-entered my life and we have never been happier together.
