This-n-That Thursday

Some maintenance thoughts....
  • Do you shred your old paperwork and stuff?  You know, like, with a shredder?
  • How long do you save your paid bills?  I save mine two years, and I think that's too much.
  • Do you have to refinish a hardwood floor every few years, or can you just wax them with a professional waxer thingy?
  • How many towels do kids take to college with them?
  • I am seriously thinking about having a tag sale.  Even though I swore I never would.  We have so much crap to get rid of treasures we want to share.
  • Make sure you take plenty of tissues when you go see "Up."  And go see "Up." Amen.
  • Is anybody else having weird dreams these days?
  • The full moon is Sunday, right?
  • Have you ever known it possible to have your heart feel so full and proud, yet ache more than you could ever know at the same time?

Tag sales can be fun. The only one I ever had, somebody tried to buy the playpen my baby was sleeping in.

I shred and I wax, and that's just my face.

Your heart should be bursting with pride right about now, and with good reason. I saw UP and I loved it.

I saw UP and cried like a baby. Who would think to bring tissues to a kid's movie? I'm glad you are sounding the warning!

Pride from your children...your heart bursting at the seams? Yes, I have felt that...I can still get teary-eyed...

Shred bills/receipts? Absolutely! That is what I line the rabbit litter boxes with. I smiled every time I do it.

Weird dreams? When aren't they weird...

Okay, I don't shred, you know what I do? I empty the kitty litter box into a bag and then I add all the old bills and such. NO one is going in there for anything.

I shred, I burst with pride for my son, I save paid bills for 2 years and I've been having weird dreams for about the last month. What's with that?

Andrea said...

Although I have a comment about each of your points, it's the last one that got me! I feel like my heart is always so full, especially when it comes to my kids, and yet it aches constantly. Such is life!

I save bills for two years and then shred them. Shred anything that has name, address and any numbers that can be traced back to you....can you tell that Fly Boy is an IT security specialist? I cannot even have a Facebook page!

We are thinking of doing the tag sale thing too....they are fun. The cash will come in handy to buy those new towels. I bet Augie is going to choose pink!

Be proud....you deserve it!

No to shredding, saving, refinishing, waxing and paying bills.

The number of towels? I don't remember having any in college. We probably just used the bath rug.

Yard sale. Need to have one, never have. AS a result, my basement looks like a thrift store that married a garbage dump. And when I say basement I really mean every room in my house.

Up-I tried taking my kids to see that last night becuase Grandma J. also recommended it. Instead they insisted on Night at the Museum 2, which actually was very good, I thought. Next time we're seeing Up.

Yes, weird is the story of my life, up to and including my dreams.

Moon - not sure, although I saw an ad for a moonlight canoe ride for Friday night, and it was boasting about a full moon.

Heart-Yes, but not at the level you're experiencing. Go see Up a few more times and have a lot of good cries interspersed with something good for you like lunch out with good friends and wine.

Okay. I could have sworn you were asking if I knew what it was like to have my feet feel so full. So no.

And thanks for the recommendation to see "Up". Really? That good?

Towels? Three. They need to learn to do their own laundry. That will guarantee they do it regularly.

Yes, we have a shredder. Actually TOG has a shredder. I think he saves bills for a year.
Minimum of two towels.
Tag sales are fun.
I dreamed I was running last night and my lungs felt fine. Talk about a dream....

I shred...I keep somethings for different periods of time...tag sales:no...go to tag sales:yes...that heart paradox sucks and is really confusing/feel it all the time...towels: honsestly, three full sets for the girl and the boy can get by with two full sets. I bought crates from the bath place and put the towels in there. That way there was a storage place for the their towels. I also purchased one of those under the sink organizers with the handle for bath and hygiene items. It will sit nicely on top of the crate. Bird, especially needs a nice rotating fan.

I own a shredder but cannot stand to do it. So I hire my niece - she loves it!!

I had a garage sale last year and it wasn't worth it. I'm going to stick with dropping off stuff at Good Will.

I don't shred, we have a trash compactor and there is so much trash in there that if someone wants to get any of my info from there then they can have it. I used to shred, but now that the grandkids come so often I don't leave it plugged in or even near where she can get to it.

don't have hard wood floors so help there! We are attempting to have a sale a week from Saturday, don't know if it will happen or not. But I can already say it is NOT worth it.

UP was WONDERFUL...and yes I needed the tissues but thank goodness for napkins needed for the popcorn.

And the heart??? Well I will be thinking of you. Pride and Pain often go together....remember the day they were born??? Pain and pride plus tears that day too. Just another WONDERFUL step in life and you have done such a great job. Just harder for you going through this with both of them at the same time. And if they weren't such great kids you would be ready to kick them out and enjoy your time to yourself!!
HUGS to you during this difficult time.

I always have weird dreams. And yes the human heart is capable of conflicting emotions .. go with it ... floors? I am still working on getting the WALLS painted .. dont get me started on floors ...

And I schlep all my 'papers' to the office and shred them ... I throw out nothing that has any personal info on it .. nothing ..

Deb said...

I don't shred a lot of stuff...most things are online.

As for your floors,I will check on the name of this one product. I thought it was from Holiday House, but I can't find it on the net.

What is a tag sale? Garage sale?

Now I know to bring lots of tissues to see UP.

Yeah, lots of weird dreams. Last night, I dreamt about my grandmother, the little sweetie! We were at the beach!

This will pass MPM. You can feel joy and heartache at the same time. But this day was inevitable. The babies must leave the nest. You will be ok. I know you will.

Yes, yes..SHRED! There are a few news stories around about how ID thieves like to lurk in garbage...
Weird dreams, yes...Bursting with pride about children(grown), and yet 'sadish' about their younger years...

Hubby takes care of the bills . . . and the shredding. We got a new shredder recently and he loves it . . .

I don't know how long you should keep the bills but I do know that Hubby keeps them too long!

I shred everything that has my name and an account number on it. If I think I need it, I make a digital copy. Put the digital copy on CD in the safety deposit box and then shred. Shred it!

Until your floors are discolored or physically damaged, just buff and polish with a wood cleaner/sealer.

Getting rid of stuff can be quite therapeutic.

I want to see Up. Thanks for the tissue alert.

I have bizarre dreams all the time. Hormones, I think.

Full Moon. Oh great! My dogs won't sleep and will bark all night.

Lastly, all the time. I'm still blaming the raging hormones.

Shred? yes.
keep paid bills? forever it feels like based on the boxes of files seem to store.
Wax? heck no!
How many towels? I'm not sure, guess it depends on how many times they want to do laundry.
Yard Sale? Heck yes- our neighborhood does one every year. Best way to make a quick $100-$200 and "share your treasures"
Want to see Up! Soon :)
Weird dreams? All the time, what is up with that?
Full moon? probably based on the way my children have been acting lately.
Full and proud heart with an ache? Absolutely! And you have so much to be proud of!!!!

My kids are begging for Up. No shredding and throw my bills away the second I pay them.

Nancy said...

We shred bills after one year.

I loved UP! We went to see it yesterday, and I agree with the tissues.

Shredding just makes you feel good. If you use the Internet -- you are already exposed in more ways than you can imagine.

I shred after a month of two- too much paper-trying to go shred free now! I have never redone my floors-I only use hot water and white vineger on them and they look great. Crazy dreams all the time-wonder if I'm am loosing it? I can not wait to see UP. Hearts are meant to be that way I think~it's a good thing. Now go have that sale so you can buy the dog!

imom said...

I really want to be like Noble Pig and throw all my bill out after I pay them!! However I don't. I just store them with the tax info (old habit from my working from home days) indefinitely. Gah.. I should probably change that.

I use the shredder at work.

We only had our hardwood refinished once.

I have no idea about how many towels should go to college!

The heart is amazing thing! Enjoy everything you're feeling.

Tissues for UP? Really? I had better wait to go when I'm not hormonal!

I think in this day with everything online, you are safe to get rid of your bills are soon as your payment has posted. Just my opinion!

I've saved every check I've written in the last 31 years. Why? I have no clue. I don't shred anything. Probably stupid. HGTV had a program on that said not to totally refinish your floors. There's something you do instead that brings them back to glory. I don't know what that is.
The entire parenting experience is nothing but bittersweet moments.
Now I'm going to go cry.

I love your this and that's....I have heard great things about UP...want to go see it too...I have to have another crap sale too....and I don't know about papers but I have saved too many for too too long I know...

Susan English Mason said...

Yes! I am having the weirdest dreams of my life! I need to go see UP really bad. I've been out of town and I'm now catching up on my reading.

Am I supposed to be waxing my wood floors? Yikes. I'd better get with it.

I keep way too much paperwork, but I think other than tax returns and health insurance stuff, you don't have to keep it for longer than a year. I have these yearly files set up and i just stuff the paid bills into each month and file it away. Why? I don't know. I heard somewhere it was a good method.

Shred as in throw in garbage. I think it depends on if they hang and use again or throw in floor. 7 if they throw in floor. Make it even 8. I continuously have weird dreams. Every night. And the last question. Yes, continuously, every day. Still.
