This-n-That Thursday

Utter nonsense:
  • I think I may have an addiction to books. My "to read" stack is taller than I am.
  • And David Sedaris has a new one coming out...
  • Those "Your Baby Can Read" video commercials annoy the tar out of me. My babies learned how to read the old fashioned way: with their parents.
  • Do you ever learn a new word and then see it used ten minutes later? I love it when that happens.
  • I may go on a campout for the first time ever.
  • Is it called a campout or camping out?
  • I do not like harpsichord music. At all.
  • Is it possible for a person to be stupid and a narcissist?
  • Today, I would like to live in Florida.
  • Steven Tyler looks more like a woman than most women.
  • They covered the pool here at the complex. I guess Autumn is here.
  • I love every season.
  • I made this Chocolate Zucchini Cake the other day. You should make it. Today. The only change I made was that I baked it in a bundt pan for about 15 minutes more. Seriously. You won't believe how good this is.
  • I am going to do 2 hours of cardio today.

Divide the books into two piles - they won't be that tall then!

That cake sounds delicious . . . if I had the time I would make it and probably eat it all myself. Not good.

I am with you and the reading. I am currently reading three books - a love story, a biography and a murder mystery....and then I am reading JBM's book with him.
Thanks for the chocolate cake...it is the best tasting I have ever had!

Call me when those 2 hours are over... :-)
When I hear harpsichord music I think of vampires.
And, yes, it is possible to be stupid and narcissistic...sad to say.

Is it possible for a person to be stupid and a narcissist .. have you not 'met' Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck or this new idiot Paladino?

2 HOURS?!? Wow!!

Looking forward to hearing about this campout....hearing about camping out....heck, I don't know which it is. But camping in FUN!! Bit of advice: baby wipes are your friend.

I agree about the harpsichord music. Unless you are listening to a concert in a church built in 1660, then it can seem quite beautiful.

Best wishes with your workout. I can't honestly say that I love every season. Winter is nice at first, but snow shoveling is my least fav thing to do.

two hours of cardio? Please tell me you are kidding. I am exhausted just thinking about it.

I am on a reading kick too. Read "The Bucolic Plague" written by Josh Kilmer-Purcell of the Fabulous Beekman Boys - it's a hoot and a half.

We closed our pool last week - it's kind of depressing to look out back and see the cover.

You say "addition to books" like that's a bad thing.

Let me know how the camping goes. I'll cheer you on. My idea of camping involves a cabin, air conditioning and fireplace (whichever is needed), and hot, running water for a shower.

Two hours of cardio? I bow to you, my friend.

The other day, I sat down with my little Moleskine notebook, a pen and Amazon.com...and made a list. Of books that I will be buying as soon as I have some buying power again. I love books, and I love to own them. Then, when it gets too out of control, I go through the ones I can bear to part with and donate them to the local library. They use what they can, and then sell the rest in their yearly book sale. I like doing that.

I just finished "Winds of War" and am now well into "War and Remembrance." Now I need to dig up the old mini-series and watch that.

I have two words for harpsicord music. Funeral dirge. That's what it reminds me of. And that's not pleasant. What made you think of harpsicord music anyway?

On the stupid narcissist issue...oh yeah, I think they can be both. The thing is, the stupid narcissist doesn't know (s)he's stupid, which is helpful is (s)he steps over the line from narcissism to being a sociopath/psychopath. The fact that they think they are smarter than everyone else when they're really not is what gets them caught when they start doing sociopathic/psychopathic things. More than you wanted to know? Sorry, but I love talking about that stuff. I've read lotsa books on it, ya know! :)

Chocolate zucchini cake. NOMNOMNOM.

I love your Thursday This-N-Thats. Love it. It brings out the Chatty Cathyness in me, in case you didn't notice.

My reading list is HUGE, as well! I keep downloading books faster than I can read them...but perhaps I'm like a squirrel with acorns...I'm just storing them up for a cold, wintry day!

If I have to do two hours of cardio after eating that cake then I'm not even going to look at the recipe...that alone would require too much energy.

It's just called "going camping".

To Kim? You can't possibly imagine how an Aquarian brain works. Hamster on steroids in a cage...flitting from one thing to another at lightening speed LOL

2 hours? Oh my...

Hey..fingers crossed on that thing you mentioned over at Kim's!

Oh and yes to the stupid narcissistic. I know one.

Camping 101

If you decide to go camping, you will be camping out; going to a campout is not usually how one describes the experience but don't quote me on that. Or anything.

A campsite is involved. This is where you set up camp, but it is not usually called a campout. Maybe it is, though, especially after lots of wine.

Camping is lots of fun, especially with friends. And wine.

It's a good idea to avoid hurricane season when camping out. If you go camping with CBW, for example, you can be assured of a hurricane whether it's hurricane season or not.

Usually, cooking out is involved with camping, although a cookout is not the same as cooking out while camping. Trust me on this, even if it's confusing. Cookouts = nice. Cooking out while camping = hell, especially in high winds and the matches are all wet. And you're crying.

It's always a good idea to bring someone with you to set up camp.

While that person sets up the campsite, you can be kicked back sipping wine. See if you can enlist this person's help in the cooking out part, too. All the better.

You can be out camping, or you can camp in the outback, or you can camp out or just plain along camp. There's even car camping.

This concludes our first lesson.

Two hours? Is it because of the cake?

Ok. Tell me about the camping thing.

I just looked up and saw it completely explained by an expert. I'm ready to take my test now.

I say- 2 hours- good for you! As for the books- I used to have a tall pile and then I bought a Kindle. It holds 1000 books- dangerous but heaven!

Well I was going to explain camping but it looks like CBW beat me to it. Please provide pictures if this actually happens so that we will believe you.

And I taught my baby how to read the old fashioned way too!
