Is anybody looking for a new project? Because I am always up for a new project if it means I can stop doing the other 200 projects I've started and become bored with my chores and stretch my mind a bit. Anyway, there is a FREE memoir writing class here. Marion Roach Smith is an accomplished writer, and with her latest, Writing What You Know: Realia, she guides the reader through all the steps necessary to get it all down:
"The great writer, Flannery O'Connor, said that anyone who survived childhood has enough material to write for the rest of his or her life. She's right, of course. But how do you get to that material? And how to choose which story to write first, which truth to tell, and in which order do you write those tales?
If you are blogging, journaling, scrapbooking or scribbling notes about your life, you are writing memoir. I will help you dig among your stuff and get your story written in interesting, enlightening, readable and possibly sale-able ways.
Along the way you will be amazed to learn what all memoirists discover--that writing what you know is the single greatest portal to self discovery."
So, does anyone want to do this? I think it would be a great exercise, and, who knows, maybe we all can go on book tour together;)

I'm hesitant to commit to anything new write now, but I'm going to check it out.
I've already over committed in any number of areas in my life (sound familiar???)!
Otherwise, I would totally do it! For real!
I am not sure I can commit and stick to it but I am going to check it out ...
Looks interesting but I am not sure I can make my mundane life interesting enough to be published!
I'll be the roadie.
This sounds great. I'm knee deep in writing a novel (I always scare myself when I saw that) so I'm not sure if I should take on another project. It does sound like fun, though!
I don't know if I can do that to my children and grandchildren. Seriously, they already think I'm nuts..I'd hate to actually confirm their suspicions.
I can't wait to read yours though! :))
TYVM xoxo
Let me check it out before I commit. I need to make sure it does not cut into my wine time.

Great idea!!
Writing from my childhood? Nifty idea. I guess she's right.....I did survive, and there are plenty of stories to tell. I'm just not sure I want to embarrass myself THAT much.
Yo, Mental P Mama:
You are every woman's best friend.
Thank you for the boost to the class.
I am greatly honored, as well as delighted by your attention.
And I love your attitude, sister.
Great blog. Thanks again.
For those who are having trouble committing to the class, please consider just coming along and watching by the sidelines.
It costs nothing to join, and learning from the writing of others is a wonderful experience.
Hope to see you there, and again, thank you, Mental P Mama. You're a sister.
Best,
Marion
Freak Show. That would be the title of my memoir. I just might check this out...
I think this sounds fun. I am off to check it out.
It sounds great in theory...I never can think of things to write about...
