This-n-That Thursday

I think I may need help:
  • I have never seen "The Way We Were."
  • While we were sweating to death running the half marathon last month, Lucia and I decided we needed some running skirts.  I may or may not have already ordered one.
  • My cleaning lady just passed her citizenship test!  I am so proud of her.  What kind of gift do you give a new American?
  • I bet if I had some running skirts, my time would be faster. Just sayin'.
  • Why am I the only person in this house who actually wrings out the sponge?  Helloooo?  Bacteria, people.
  •  Does that Kate woman with all those kids really think her hair looks good like that? I am scared of it.  And her. Would you call it a reverse mullet?  Seriously, she can afford better.
  • Why do you sleep really well when you have nothing big to do the next day?
  • What is your favorite self-tanner?
  • Would you rather have a pedicure or a manicure?
  • Morning person or night owl?
  • gah or meh?

I agree with the Kate-hair. I'm not a big fan of the chicken feathers look sticking out at the crown of the head. The only one who wears that well is Russel Brand and only because his looks like an actual bird nest and not just a wanna-be bird nest.

I say Gah to the hair and I'm thinking you give a bunch of nice sponges to someone that just became a citizen! Ones that wring out really really nicely!

Unknown said...

Maybe a nice frame for the new citizen to put her certificate in? Maybe just some flowers!

I'm a pedi girl, my finger nails are kept short and natural.

I'm a nightowl.

gah---nite owl!

Meh, normally morning person although you wouldn't be able to tell from the time of this post. I'm with ya on the sponge thing. Every time I walk by that darn kitchen sink I am wringing out the sponge. Also, Kate hair? Scary!

Decadent Housewife said...

We wore scarey hair like that in 1968.
I saw The Way We Were more than I should.
I liked the flowers in Barbra's hair.
I'm going to bed now and will sleep really well.

Perhaps Kate's hair looks especially awful in that shot was because she was leaving a "meeting" with her bodyguard...gah! I am such a cat!!

Thank you for articulating what I've been struggling with for months now but couldn't find the words.

That Kate hair is downright terrifying.

I think Kate is still in a personality quandry..trying to be perfect in an imperfect world, hence the hair. I feel for her...and her hair.

Sponges are environmentally and biologically unsafe. If you do not believe me, take one to an biological lab and have it tested after 24 hours of use. I am just saying.

Something American would be a great gift...red, white, and blue.

mani-pedi...I like to pretend I am a princess.

Night Owl stuck in a morning person's world.

I sleep better when there is something to do the next day, then I don't want to get up...I get up way to early on days I have nothing to do.

Meh.

The sponge thing drives me crazy. Not as crazy as Kate's hair, though!

You have given me WAY too much to think about this early in the morning!

Linda said...

Morning person, for sure. If it needs to be done, it gets done before lunch! I've been known to go to bed at 7:30! PM that is, not AM!

I don't think I've seen the movie, but probably wouldn't remember it anyway!

I don't watch Kate and her show, but her hair is not nice.

Sponges...NO, NO, NO! The bacteria count in them...GAH, I hate to think about it!

Driftwood and Pumpkin said...

Hate Kate's hair...glad I am not the only one who thinks that. I just thought I was uncool. Well, I am uncool, but whatever. Maybe if I get a running skirt I would be cooler. By the way, what the hell is a running skirt?

Oh, and pedicure, middle of the day person, and meh.

Nurse Nancy said...

The scary thing about Kate's hair is that I have seen several other people with it lately.....she may be starting the new Dorothy Hammil or Jennifer Aniston trend...Gah!

Is that a running skirt she has on?
A flag makes a nice gift.
Morning person.
These days I just cannot say anything about anyones hair as crappy as mine has been looking lately.
We have a dish cloth~I think it has just as many cooties.
Manicure or pedicure-I wish!

Anonymous said...

What are these running skirts you speak of?
Gah. Always Gah. Unless I'm unmoved. Then it's Meh.
Night owl.
Pedicure.

I agree about Kate's hair - it's certainly distracting.

P.S. I've given you an award, so check out my blog for details.

Trisha said...

Can't wait to see a picture of your new runing skirt since I have no clue what one looks like.

Kate's hair - totally agree. She needs a new style.

Daryl said...

Kate's cut is very retro, you are all too young to remember it .. its Sassoon baby ... in fact, Babs wears such a cut in TWWW

I stopped using any but 'natural' sponges the ones I buy at Zabars that you wet and they expand ... of course if they arent wrung out the soap and water left over still gets them gross

Take her out to lunch or ask CWB to make her some egg salad

I love acupuncture .. it saved me from pain

Deb said...

I own The Way We Were...makes me cry everytime. The last scene of the movie...GAH! The way she strokes his hair...I turn to mush.
Give her a piece of jewerly! Hey...jewerly always is the answer.
I microwave my sponges for 40 seconds...I saw that on tv as a way to kill germs. Or I throw it in the dishwasher.
Pedicure...definetely...always...
I am a middle of the day person. I know that doesn't make sense.
As for poor Kate...give her a break...she's had a litter of children. Her hair is her hair...and I'm sure she thinks it looks great!

Caution/Lisa said...

Hate her hair, but when everything one has is free and one is unwilling to pay for things, one gets stuck with unlovely sometimes.

Middle of the day person.
Running skirt? Would it make my legs look thinner? Can you believe that at age 47, I just realized how heavy they are?
Jergens self-tanner.
Pedi/mani? Someday I'll know.

MitMoi said...

Chiming in agree with why people don't get the whole concept of wringing out sponges or dish-clothes so they aren't COLD AND SLIMY when you go to use them next.

They might carry germs - but I am NOT cutting down tree after tree (nor spending more $$ on paper towels). I agree - microwave for 40 seconds, dishwasher, or clothes washer in hot water. I refuse to become a germ fanatic. So far I haven't poisoned myself or anyone else**

Morning person - and pedicure if I wasn't so cheep.

Who is this Kate person in the picture?? (seriously out of touch with "pop-news")

Cleaning Lady - there's a series of photography books called "Images of America" ... look on Amazon. Maybe there is one on/near your area - or that would have meaning to her.

Meh - at most jokes people tell.
Gah - when I don't get cultural references.

Kate's hair looks like how Victoria Beckham used to wear hers and to that I say Gah!

kates hair sucks...but if she loves it then I am down with it LOL

i am a mani gal ...love pedi's but have a hard time letting anyone touch my feets.
GAH absolutely.
i am an owl when I can be and morning person rest of the time
never saw the way we were...i dont think
ummm cant wait to see you when you come get maters :)

I am with Decadent Housewife...we did wear our hair like that in the "old" days...I loved The Way We Were...but I like Robert Redford and I really like Barbra Striesand....oh man what I would give for a cleaning lady besides me...that is awesome for her...maybe a beautiful journal to write her new memories of her new life...I am definitely a morning person...but stay up too late because I have a teenager still...I adore pedicures!!!!!! Did you see Brody's rings he made for Mother's Day....he did great! I always love your this and that Thursdays...

Running skirt..no...chaffing.

I'm a night owl and a morning person which equals, no sleep.

I've never liked Kate's hair...it's too geometric.

Pedicure always.

American gift...gift certificates to McDonalds.

Big Hair Envy said...

I've never had a pedi, but I always paint my toenails. Does that count???

I'm a morning person surrounded by night owls. GAH!!!

imom said...

I have sponge issues as in I have to change it out every week or I'm completely grossed out.

Kate's hair is cute on her, but I wouldn't recommend it for most. Sounds like things are shaking up for her, so maybe she will change the style along with everything else.

How about a middle of the day person?

I use Gah, when I'm exasperated and Meh, when I'm indifferent.

Debbie said...

No sponges except for bathrooms. No worries about what to get a cleaning lady, but whatever, make sure it's not made in China. Thank you for reminding me I have NEVER had a pedi or a mani. Especially no mani lately.

No Gah or Meh. Geesh. I'm weird.

The Way We Were. Watch. Run in a skirt? Okay.

Mary said...

The Way We Were -- too emotionally fraught.

Citizenship gift -- money,

Kate's hair -- at this point, she probably needs a new husband more than a new hairdo.

Sponge -- nobody except me ever uses it.

Mani/Pedi -- I'd be more worried about the germs there... ick!

Sleep -- apparently I'm a 3:30 -- 5:30 am person.

Gah/Meh -- Huh?

What the heck is a running skirt?

Anonymous said...

A good gift for her: maybe a nice but tasteful flag brooch? It probably sounds a lil tacky to us, but Im betting she takes a lot more pride in her citizenship than those of us who are just citizens as accident of birth.

And if you ever need a gift for me...Ill take a cleaning lady! :-)

Nancy said...

That hair is odd. Meh. And exactly WHY does my husband not wring out the sponge - makes me feel like it needs to go in the dishwasher, even if it just came out. Pedi. Must see "The Way We Were!"

MamaGeek @ Works For Us said...

That hair just ain't right. On anyone. I used to watch that J&K show but now I'm over it. :O

What i want to know is when does Kate have the time to have an affair. I only have two kids and I hardly have time to oogle my favorite hockey players on YouTube. What? Like you don't do that too!!!

Country Girl said...

You got the skirt?
Pedicure.
Some days a morning person, some days a night. I love both.
Gah. Definitely.

I'm just sayin'.

I tried to respond to this yesterday and once again, my internet access went down - thank you Comcast!

I'll try again.
The Way We Were - never saw it either - don't know who Hubble is

Are running skirts like tennis skirts only faster?

Cleaning lady - best bet $$$ - always appropriate

Sponge - soak mine in about a tsp of bleach and water at the end of the day - is that okay Chesapeake Bay Woman?

Kate's hair - GAH - that answers two questions! 2005 called they want their hair style back.

Sleeping - I don't sleep no matter what's going on the next day.

Self tanner - the sun, with SPF 10 Dry oil - sorry I tan easily.

Mani or Pedi - both, about once every 3 years - I'm just not into them.

Night Owl - thanks to menopause!!!

Gah or Meh - see Kate's hair.

You make me laugh with your This and Thats. Didn't have time yesterday - too busy trying to figure out if my internet was working or not.
