Today I went to hear my girls' choir sing Carols at the city's Trail of Lights. Talking to several moms about low thyroid, low Vitamin D and antidepressants. So, yeah, kinda sorta in the spirit of things.
I'm driving to a job I can't stand but absolutely have to have.
I don't have any recommendations on how to get the spirit. I have to work on Christmas Eve, which is also my mother's birthday, which is another reason to hate the job that I absolutely must have.
The preceeding rambling and unrelated statements brought to you by 5 hours of slseep and no coffee yet.
i do think I am going to get my nails done before picking up one Martha jean then we are going shopping fo rthe baptest childrens home to see just what all we can get that they need for christmas and in the process probably find some things that are on the lists of those here... my children have done amazingly on my one item list my dear hubby has broken all rules and has a list any 5 yr old would be thrilled with.... and i have pork chops in the crock pot (will add the greens later around 1130) got my FAVORITE COUSIN on the planet coming over this evening and after dinner we as in she martha and I will be heading out to LIGHTS OF THE SOUTH... to enjoy the balmy weather and wonderful christmas lights... WISH YOU WERE HERE it should be an interesting day.
Cleaning my house. It's a party tonight, I have eggnog to make, kids to help clean the house (woohoo!), and candy to hide till the last minute (so I don't eat it).
Still no spirit, huh? Have you tried sitting in front of a large lamp to stimulate sunshine? How bout watching one of your favorite Christmas movies? If all else fails, go to the mall and sit on Santa's lap Today, I am caring for my grandson while my honey meets with a potential employer (cross fingers), then I will change diapers, play with the baby, feed the baby, cuddle the baby, kiss the baby and love the baby...finding time to make dinner and unpack the remaining boxes of Christmas decorations.
Here's a sure fire way to get into the spirit. Call the pound to see if Daisy's parents found her yet. If not, go pick her up and give her the best Christmas present ever - life with a loving family.
Do you wanna come to Arizona or do you want me to meet you? It is raining cats and dogs here in the valley of the sun today and we are in the high 50's...at least the weather feels holidayish!!!!!
Wish I could help with your lack of holiday spirit, but alas, I have no easy solution. As for me, I will do laundry, listen to Ottman Liebert's Christmas Santa Fe and work on the books for my former pastor's new parish.
Ask Annie to get Nurse Nancy's recipe for peppermint martinis - that may help.
Well, don't know if I have any advise for you or not. I have gifts bought and wrapped, STILL waiting for that stupid tree to coome down out of the attic. A new tree was bought last year that is pre-lit, thinking it would make things so much eaiser. Pretty easy since I can't get it down out of the attic. I have asked, reminded, begged, now I will just wait and see if it happens before Christmas. I am just kind of laughing at this thinking it might come down on Chrismtas Eve....want to place any bets? Hey, is Christmas still on the 25th this year??? Just checking.
I will loan you my 7 year old for the day. He will give you Christmas spririt or get you very ready for a Christini (guaranteed for Christmas spirit). Let me know which you would rather have....Nurse Nancy
Is it wrong that I find pleasure in knowing that there is someone else out there who just can't seem to get behind the whole Christmas spirit thing this year?
Gawd LaLa you have a lot of energetic friends willing to give you their kids or their booze .. however I am with Diane/Mimi on this .. go find out if Daisy's people came to get her
Okay, anyone's comment is better than mine. I served jail people who are EXTREMELY depressed this time of year, of course. I also went to KMart and did a return already. Got some gift tags, stopped by Arby's and plan on getting back to Bella and the werewolves soon. Sigh. I may put up the tree tonight. Sigh. Sigh.
This will be of no help ...went snowshoeing with Karl and then was inexpicably hungry for a cool, crisp antipasto salad - hardly "seasonal" but it tastes wonderful.
And my grilled chicken was not chicken popsicles :) ! - hard to believe, but it felt nice to sit outside while it cooked. 5 above feels pretty nice after it has been -10...
I have just the thing to lift your holiday spirits, but you have to wait til morning. (Ive got a post coming that is a last ditch effort to inspire spirit in all)

Maybe you should take a long bath in warm Egg Nog. That always does it for me.
Today I have to bake 7 or 8 dozen cookies, bake a cake, eat, make a stew, take the kids caroling tonight, go tot the airport...collapse.

Let's go do lunch...

You can go with me to Stew Leonards to get my tree. If I do not go today, I will not have a tree.
I also have to get the last of the presents, as husband does no shopping or for that matter, no tree getting.
Spirit, Yeah, emmmmm, Ebaneazer is creeping in here.
The roads are clear enough that I am driving into work today for the 8 hours. Ugh...........
It must be bug going around or something. We've been kinda the same way. Hopefully, the ornaments will get hung on the tree tonight.
It's been up for several days now, just no decorations.
Today I will wrestle with day 6 of headache and nausea. And watch it snow. If I get to feeling zesty, I'll bake another batch of cookies.
I packed up Christmas cookies for the kid's teachers...and with luck, I'll get a little wrapping done!

Come enter my contest! That will make you feel cheery!! Or not, but do it anyway!!

I am making candy for Hubby's office Christmas party today. What fun! Other than that I am trying to keep warm!
I love the fact that you put a bow on the bottom of the urn that fell over!
What's your favorite Christmas food? Cook or otherwise procure it and eat a bunch of it. Oh, and wine.
Gawd LaLa you have a lot of energetic friends willing to give you their kids or their booze .. however I am with Diane/Mimi on this .. go find out if Daisy's people came to get her
:-Daryl .. who is also lacking in ho ho ho
Go to Starbucks and get a gingerbread latte, then go look at my kids pictures in the snow again. You'll feel better. Promise.
I don't have any ideas either.
Here's an idea! Today I am taking drugs for this "thing" that I can not get rid of and am going for a massage. Hey, it's something different!

Right now - I'm surfing while Monkey Girl wraps presents. I don't have spirit either. She does. I wish she'd share.

I have lost my mind. I don't remember what I did yesterday and am quickly losing today.
