Happy Days Are Here Again

After 82 days and 20 hours since I last visited her, I was finally able to get an appointment with my personal genie hairdresser Mari yesterday.  Until yesterday, it has been a tough few weeks here in Mental Land involving lots of baseball caps and avoidance of being seen by anyone outside of Cocktail Corner.  If you need to bone up on what Cocktail Corner is, you can go here or here.  This magical and lovely lady who turns my hair into spun gold is so popular that you have to wait weeks to get in.  As a matter of fact, when I left, I tried to make an appointment for November 1, and she is already totally booked.  Gah.

At any rate, Mari is also a fun person, and I always love my chair-time with her.  Yesterday, we had a bonus as my good friend Miss Hower had an appointment as well.  She told me she called on August 6, and today was the first time she could get in.  We all laughed and then she told us that she had just had to hang up on her husband because she didn't want to be late and miss her appointment.  The kicker is that he is in Ireland right now, and he called to tell her he had been in an accident.  Come hell or high water, Miss Hower was not missing this appointment.  We all laughed even more.  And everyone went home with our lovely new hair.

Everybody is okay in Ireland, by the way.

Please, someone tell me that I am not the only hair geek out there.  Please?

There isn't any one of us who hasn't resorted to the dreaded baseball cap to camoflage bad hair.

A few ultimately pointless and self involved notes on this post:
A. I have that same Paul Frank Cover on my iPhone
B. I went to Jr. High with Paul Frank
C. He was very shy and had a big round face
D. You still look cute while getting your hair done
E. That looks like WATER (shudder) in you wine glass
F. I think the statement "Everyone is fine in Ireland" is too broad. You haven't ever met my friend William Kennedy.
D. I look forward to your blog everyday
The end

I love checking in with your blog...you always make me smile. I feel the same way about my hair sessions!

Really....WATER??? We missed you at lunch. Hopefully we'll see you next month.

I really do not do the hairfixer thing never did. (and it is evident!)Except for an occasional trim. I have resorted to baseball caps though.

NSLO's hairfixer is booked up the same way. When you find a good one you have to keep em!

No, you're not the only hair geek out there. I used to never do anything to my hair except wash it. Now that I'm over 40, that no longer flies.

I don't know what I'd do without my personal genie. Oh wait, yes I do. I'd shoot myself.

I still think you're a hoot. This blog has now become my official, daily go-to for a quick giggle.

(1) I have a hair genie too. Her name is Elizabeth. Too often she's doing shows in New York. If I'm lucky, I see her 3 times a year.

I know. Sad isn't it?

(2) That glass should DEFINITELY be filled with Chardonnay.

(3) I boned up on Cocktail Corner. It looks like a good time ladies! But the photo made me realize how much I miss deck parties with my own girlfriends and neighbor ladies. That's what I get for being gone the last 5 weekends in a row!

Oh, boo hoo. Honestly, you have no idea what hair trauma is. For one thing, and by definition,it's constant. I cannot elaborate without inviting a stroke. Count your blessings, girlfriend.

I'm a hair geek too. Here's my problem. My "older person hair" is coming in all curly and screwed up. Seriously! Who's hair is this coming in on my head. My hair genie said it is normal (I wanted to call her names, but it isn't her 23 year old fault). So, I'm dealing with it with smoothing cremes and root lifter and new fangled hair dryer roller thingies and it is making me want to shave my head. But Britney beat me to that drama! Crap! I'll have to settle for a glass of wine and a flat iron. :)

While I am not exactly certain what a hair geek is . . . I get my hair cut every six weeks. I have to if I want it to be short and cool in the TExas weather. I always follow my mother's advice and make my next appointment before leaving the salon. If I don't - I forget and then my hair is nuts when I finally get it cut!

OMG! I am so happy to learn there is another hair geek out there. For some reason, I post a lot about my hair, hair cuts, hair products. I am in dire need of a highlight but at the cost of that, these days, we have to eat!

I think I'd be intimidated by someone that good, who I had to wait that long to get an appointment with. But I gave up some time ago on my hair looking good, so what do I know!

It's okay to be a geek. Especially for good hair. :)

Am I a hair geek? Dahling, such stories I could tell you...

MY hairstylist, selfish little vixen, is on Maternity Leave. Can you believe it? I started wearing black the moment she started getting a baby bump. I knew things would not be the same for a very long time.

In the meantime, I've been trying out other women in her shop - one was a disaster of monumental proportions. Someone else actually had to finish the hot tranny mess she started.

The second, who won second spot in our local paper's reader's poll as favorite stylist - let's just say she proved why she's not #1.

Because my hair looked like #2.

...(*giggle*snort*)...Baroness von Bloggenschtern's comment up there...lol... :oD

...Oh girl, if I had your hair I wouldn't have a worry in the world! And no, I'm not a hair geek and it shows. My color is right out of a box, my haircuts cost $16.00 and my drink of water would be in a dixie cup...(*sigh*) :o)

...Do we get an "after" photo?

...Blessings... :o)

...Wait a minute, I'm confused. What exactly is a hair geek? Maybe I am one. Do tell...

I'm leaving the office in five minutes to make sure I get to my hair appointment on time. True story!!! Over 40 = More Hair Chair Time.

Have a great weekend!

You need to make two appointments at a time! Can you do that?

I just LOVE Fred and Bessie and your cocktail corner. Can I come?

Glad you got your hair done. I used to be hairdresser and do my own hair, even cut it so I don't have to mess with that anymore thank goodness.

I always encouraged my "color" and "cuts" to get in a routine and schedual 6-8 weeks out at each visit????

Have a super great weekend!

I will not see anyone but Melissa to do my hair, which is WAY overdue. No, you're not the only one. I guess I'll have to take my camera the next time I go...which will be very soon I hope...

Between the elections and Ike, my computer is gathering dust. Even the lake is being ignored...

Sigh.
