This-n-That Thursday

Things I learned this week:
  • Don't put your Ped Egg next to the mouse on your desk.
  • You can actually dream an entire grocery list, and wake up and go to the store with it in your head.  Apparently I have been having a recurring dream that we need tall kitchen garbage bags.  We probably will never need them again.
  • When you make a Red Velvet cake, and cut your finger on the butter carton?  You don't lose enough blood to counteract the weight you gain by licking the bowl.
  • I don't like that old show Designing Women, and I loved it when it came out.
  • I need to start taking my diuretics two days before my Weight Watchers' torture sessions  meetings.
  • Waiting 3 months for your hair cut is worth it.
  • An evening spent looking for baby pictures with your daughter for her Senior yearbook is such a bittersweet experience that you actually wish you could go back for just one day.

Love the tub pic - ah, blackmail photos are always a good thing.

You are inspiring me to return to WW. We could start a support blog, so misery shared could be misery spared.

Maybe if you ate the ped egg and rubbed your feet with the red velvet cake you could skip the diuretics and enjoy an extra serving of wine?

That bathtub shot is adorable - I had those same bathtub seats when my two were babies. I'd go back for a day, too. But just one.

awwwwwwwww....what cute babies.

Perhaps we two should actually pay attention to what and how much we consume....as obviously it's tooooooooooooooo much (BIG sighhhhhhhh). Well, that idea is no fun in the least, so lets just forget about that!

one more question... when the instructions call for greasing the pan before putting the cinnamon rolls in isn't it less calories to use PAM butter spray and there for diet food? also isn't it dietic to get the one with creamcheese icing versus the butter icing??? I think it must be!

Mental P Mama said...

Annie-what? Pay attention to what?

Laura-yes, the Pam spray is a must for all baking while dieting.

Ellen-please join us in our misery.

CBW- that is a good plan. One day, and that's it.

Cute babies! I cry every year when they show the baby pictures of the graduating seniors. Can't imagine what will happen next year when MY daughter's pictures are on that big screen!!!

I always wait three months before getting a "trim". Is that odd? heehee!

Weight loss. Now there's a topic that makes me want to eat Red Velvet Cake.....

Today I'm hormonal so everything seems emotionally charged, but I can SO relate to your last item. My girls are now 22, 20 and 15. Right this minute my oldest is all the way across the country doing an internship in San Francisco till December. It will be the longest I've ever gone without seeing her. She went to college at UVA which was only a two hour drive from home. If I was desperate to see her I could get there for lunch...My middle daughter is at school two hours in another direction and I haven't seen her since August. I still have my youngest at home with me for a few more years. I went through a big ol' "I'm so done!" phase a while back. Now I'm realizing how much I enjoy my kids and how central they are to my life!
Did I mention that I'm hormonal today?
Anyway. Savor this year. It goes by sooo quickly.

Do you make a good red velvet cake? You wouldn't be willing to share the recipe, would you? Unless, of course, blood is the secret to making it so red ...

Flea-- Paula Deen's Red Velvet Cake is the best one I have ever made:

Dang, I don't have a ped egg, but I'm going to get one. Oh and I need a haircut too. I've gotten by with a ponytail and baseball cap practically all summer long. Now I have nowhere to hide.

The Ped Egg thing cracked me up!

Why don't you like "Designing Women" now?
What's changed your mind?
I used to love that show when it was on.

When the DW reruns began a while back, I told my daughter that she would lovelovelove the show. So we both watched it and then looked blankly at each other. What was the attraction?

Can I join you for a piece of that red velvet cake? I'm in the midst of a big ole pity party and I think CAKE may well be the answer.

Also, I feel for you, going through old pics. Bless your heart. It's an adorable photo.

I feel the same when I look at baby pictures of my son. And he's not quite seven years old yet.

Oh Paula Deen's red velvet cake is to die for. Even if you can't counteract the weight gain by loss of blood if you cut your finger you won't need to use the red food coloring called for in the cake.

Have I ever told you how much I adore your perspective and sense of humor. Tis true. YOU. ROCKETH.

Weight Watchers? Now THERE's a good idea! :)

Mental - Just wanted to give you and others who use blogger a heads up that some, though not all, of us are experiencing problems editing posts, saving new posts and publishing posts. Do NOT type your text into blogger directly - rather create it in Word or somewhere else and then see if you can cut and paste it in. I've read on some of the Help boards that they're aware of the problem and working on it. In the meantime, for those with the problem, you will lose your edits and your new posts will give you an error message when you try and save them.

Hopefully it will be resolved soon. - cbw

You can go back in the pictures, but I'd want to go back and smell their sweet hair, feel their chubby little hands on my face, and damn girl. I hate getting weepy!!!

Don't we all have pictures of children in the tub?!!! Adorable.

Cute tub pic. Aren't those always the best?!

Funny thing. I can remember liking "Designing Women," some years ago. When I see it now, it makes me cringe, like hearing nails on a chalkboard. The agony of it all...

Love the hair!!! And the baby pictures bring tears when you see how much they've grown.

How did I miss this post of yours? Is that a monkey on your phone/camera? Love your haircut. did you grow it out to get this new cut? I love Red Velvet cake. All my kid's baby pictures are in storage...someday soon I will move and it will be like Christmas when I unpack! Isn't it great that we can move right back to that moment in the picture we reminisce over? I guess that is our way of going back.
