Question of the Day

Why, oh why, would anyone in their right mind want to be President of these United States right now?  And I hope the right mind wins in 39 days.  Yes, 39 days.

I think the debate was very close.  Anyone else?

Oh man, great question, and I don't have the answer.
God help us!
In my opinion about the debate, I was hoping for greatness and didn't see it from either candidate, where's HILLARY when you need her!!! :) I think they both got equal shots at each other, nothing really new on either side, it was kind of a wash for me.

There was a debate?

I didn't hear anything amazing from either side. I wish they'd quick talking to each other and just answer the questions.

YEAH... why!

I think the edge was in Obama's favor. (Wishful thinking or intellectual thought?)

I am waiting for hubby to get out of the shower to watch it...the poll they just quoted on the news was 84% McCain, 14% Obama and 1% undecided....we'll see.

I thought Obama had the edge.

I opted for going to bed early. At the risk of sounding terribly jaded, I don't believe a word either one of them says anyway. I figure if you put what they say in one hand and my chances for waking up beautiful due to more sleep in the other, they each have an equal shot of coming true. For the first time ever, I still have no idea who I will vote for because I don't like and/or trust either choice. Mostly I just want it to be over.

After an hour, I lost interest. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this election.

I am so pissed that I missed it.

To answer your question, I can't imagine going into politics at any level, even under the best of circumstances. It is exhausting just looking at all the hand shaking and small talking, nevermind all the impromptu speeches and public events.

When you factor in all the crap the person will have to deal with in order to clean up this mess of ours, it is one heckuva daunting job.

Maybe I'm hearing what I want to hear, but I truly believe Obama WANTS to be President to straighten this mess out, or at least give it a damn good try.

McCain wants to stay at war somewhere, anywhere, to keep reliving the past. It's what he's comfortable with. When he's done waging war, he wants to stare at Sarah and listen to hunting stories.

Yes, I have attitude. :)

I can't imagine why anyone would EVER want to be President of the U.S.

I was disappointed in the debate. Don't think either candidate - nor the moderator - did a particularly good job.

Well, it could be worse.
Just imagine wanting to be Prime Minister of Canada.

These are certainly really scary times...and I am worried about our nation. I too can't imagine wanting to run for the President of this crazy wonderful in the toilet place...I could never handle being in the public's eye like they are. Heaven help us!

Yes, who in their right mind would want to be President? Which is scary in and of itself.

I thought the debate was a win for neither side. (I did laugh at an article in our paper this morning stating the obvious that "in general" each partisan group thought their candidate did best... wow, great reporting work.)

I was thinking the same thing this morning. Barack Obama won the debate of course! No really I thought it was a tough night. Barack Obama tends to want to take the high road, letting his calm demeanor set the tone. But in the case of the debates I think he needs to step out of his comfort zone and hit harder. John McCain can take it.

I was thinking the exact thing! Yes, I watched every minute of it, along with the wrap up after the debate. That very question crossed my mind when the candidates mounted their podium and offered the conginial greetings. I thought to myself...what are you men thinking? Kinda reminded me when I was 9 months pregnant and driving to the hospital. I asked my husband if we could not go through with this! I wonder if the candidates have any remorse?

I didnt get to see it, I have it TIVO'd though.

I heard this morning that the "experts" said Obama won.

I am just glad Sarah Palin wasnt up there, she can see Russia from her house you know. ;-)

Well I still say my daddy taught me friends don't talk about religion or politics so I am going to stick with it. But I am going to hope who ever wins will do a good job with this country. I hope he brings some improvements to us middle class hard working people, I hope he keeps social security around for my parents and maybe even me, I hope he brings our boys home from war, but protects us from future/further attacks on this great land. I hope he has a moral life and attitude, with respect for self and others. I hope he believe in hard work and keeping jobs in America. I hope he has the backing of the legislature to lead this country and not get stonewalled because they don't like him. I hope we as a nation pull together and support the man who will be elected and will choose to demand that we be heard and we be recognized as the ones that put him in office. I have a lot to say for someone who doesn't want to talk about politics huh?

Just not happy with either candidate. Whatever mess the winner comes into will take the whole four years to BEGIN to fix.

No easy choices in this election, huh?

I've oft thought the same thing; thank goodness there are people who want to be president but damn if I know why anyone would want that job.

I thought the debate was close, too. I wondered how indicative of character it is that McCain didn't once look at his opponent in the eye.

I'll bet the candidates are asking themselves the same question right about now. As for the debate itself, I think it was a draw. Obama definitely showed himself to be a thoughtful and intelligent leader, but McCain did a good job of belittling his opponent. Not pretty, but it will definitely work with some voters. Aaarrgh!
