Things That Crossed my Mind in the Last Five Minutes

Remember back in the day when you had an event to attend on a Saturday?  And on the preceding Monday you decided to lose 5 pounds to look better in your little black dress?  So you cut back on sweets a little, and by Saturday you had lost your 5 pounds?  What happened to those days?

I wish I had appreciated my metabolism more in my 20's.  Hell, even in my 30's.

Three weeks of being a little kinder to my body has netted me a net loss of about 3 pounds. Not too much to crow about, but it's a start.  And I don't want to be in my 20's again.  Or even my 30's.  I'd just like a little bit of that tautness back.  Is tautness a word?

Do you think you can put too much lemon juice in your water?  I think I may be having some enamel issues.  But am drinking lemony water like crazy.  My skin is happy.

Did y'all read about how Heather Armstrong's doing the 21 day cleanse that Oprah did?  I thought about it for, say, five minutes.  I think I'll just follow along with her.  Kind of a vicarious cleanse.  If you will.

Am I the only person who is intrigued by those Dyson vacuum cleaners?  Or the guy who invented them?  I like his accent, too.

I wish somebody would help poor Ed McMahon pay his mortgage.  You'd think somebody, whose career he and Johnny Carson helped launch, would belly up to the bar and do something.

When does the weirdness of being both happy and scared that your children are driving end?

I want a Dyson so bad I could spit. However, I have three vacuums already and the hubby has put the kabosh on another one. How he has this right? I have no idea.

I thought I was the only one in the world who loves loves loves the Dyson guy!

I love your random thoughts. I have a mouse in my head like that too that just keeps running and running.

Congrats on your three pounds! That IS a big deal.

I think 3 pounds lost is a good start.
Unfortunately I think I found your three pounds.
They have settled on my thighs.

THREE pounds? THREE!?

Um, that's awesome. I've worked for a year for three pounds!

Poor Ed McMahon.

Wow ... so many questions ... so, nu? Where do we get the answers?

3 lbs off is better than on ...

And I suspect you never get past worrying about kidlettes driving.

Eat some asparagus .. its the world's tastiest diuretic ...

I'm very intrigued by the Dyson vacuums, and more so with That Man With The Accent.

I have lost so much weight over the years in 5 lb. increments, that I could have made a whole 'nother person!

I don't know if I've said this here before, but I consider age 50 to be The Perfect Storm: my knees crapped out, my metabolism shut down, and after being on a constant diet for the last 30 years, I suddenly seem to want to eat some REAL food while I still have all my own teeth.

Oh, and I think I found your three pounds -- on my a**!

Happy weekend!
xoxo,
Mary

CONGRATS on your 3 lb loss, that's great!
I love how your mind works, makes me feel better now that I know I'm not the only one with a million thought running through my mind every 5 minutes!

A vicarious cleanse. Hmm. Somehow I am so not interested in being the peeping Tom there. Sorry. A vicarious consumer of cheesecake? Let's talk.

I have a Dyson. It's a good vac, probably worth what I paid, which was about half of its original price, but I should have listened to the reviews about its construction. Plastic. Works well though.

Love this way of thinking.
So if a "little kinder" nets you 3 pounds, what would a whole lotta lovin' do for my body I wonder? And YES to the metabolism of a 20-year old. I remember at night thinking, "oh, my tummy is a little poofy-- no big deal, it'll be flat in the morning". Flat. Now I just want one of my rolls to be flat-- I don't ask a lot.
The driving thing? When you stop worrying about that (you won't) they'll give you something new, like "Hey Mom, I'm in love and want to get married, did I mention her dad's on heroine?"
Wow, aren't I a ray of sunshine today...

the five pounds thing never ever ever ever happened to me in my youth. this is the first time i have ever been in control of my weight (only another pound and a half to the w/w goal!)

How did you get into my head??
Ed McMahon, metabolism (or the lack there of), 3 pounds is 3 more pounds than me.
If Mary says 50 is The Perfect Storm - what is 60 - because I am on the downhill slide to that.
Cheers!

I am jumping up and down and up and down and up and down to celebrate your 3 pounds. I am also going to eat a lot of ice cream tomorrow to continue the celebration.

And, NO, no one should help old Ed. I don't have a lot of pity for a man who marries women younger than his children. Ewww. I sound just mean!!

Y'all are funny...I like poor old Ed. I feel sorry for him. I think I gained the 3 pounds back today. *sigh.

Shoot, I wish I could lose weight, three pounds would be a nice start and I have tried, but it just is not coming off. Oh, that means I will need to get off my bo-hunk-us and do something. If it would quit raining I might. I guess I could take up swimming though huh? Don't care about the Dyson vacuum, I don't care about vacuuming period. Man I am tired of thinking and you did all of that in five minutes? And the kids driving thing, I don't think it ever goes away. I worry about the kids and them driving in big cities all the time.. My daughter is in OKC and my son in a large town in Texas.

Yeah ED makes me sad and I so agree with the metabolism thing and taughtness sounds like a good word to me of course not to my body, I am a hard body under these wrinkles...I'm sure of it! I totally understood everything you said...

Oh you slay me. I am on my second dyson and I am a walking AD for that hot british inventor. Buy one, you will love it!

Ah, so many questions that I need to answer for you, but so little time. I'm back to speed. I'll post about it. But loved this post of yours today.

As far as the Dyson man goes, it used to be the Bowflex man for me. the original one, like 6 years ago. My kids used to yell, "mom, the Bowflex guy is on again".

*sigh*

Ha! I just saw the commercial for the Dyson Ball I think it's called. Every time I see it, I think that I simply most have one of those. Alas, that's a little too much for my pocketbook!

LOL.. Tautness is a word.. you just don't truely appreciate it until your late 30's.
The Dyson guy.. I am guessing it really doesn't have anything to do with him or his accent.. It has more to do with a man handling and really understanding a vaccum cleaner(wink)
I agree.. someone needs to help out the poor man.. do what's right.!

The teenager driving.. >???< Please let me know when you figure that one out..
Great post... I am going outside to watch the sunset now and enjoy a nice warm drink...I best start on the lemony water tomorrow,, I haven't lost a pound..(pout) Guess i should stay away from the licorice and candy.. and... and... o well...

I'm relating to this..my brain works this way too. Sometimes I get asked "how'd you get there from here"? It's all over the place. Can make one crazy!

I stayed off computer yesterday and dug out my back creek for 4 hours! I can hardly move today LOL. Congrats on the weight loss and I hate this older metabolism!

I know the feeling now about trying to lose weight, but I'm getting heavier - fortunately though the inches around the midrif are getting less.
I think my new exercise regime is turning what remains of my fat into muscle, but I am looking forward to the time when I drop below the 90 kg level.
I have now accepted the fact that years of abuse will not disappear overnight, so will aim for about a kg (2.2 lbs) a month.

Uhh I will watch Heather do the cleanse. I am hearing you about the metabolism thing and I love, love, love lemon juice in my water. I agree with it making your skin look good. I don't know about the Dyson thing because I usually don't watch commercials if I can help it. Help poor Ed? Nope not a lot of sympathy here and the weirdness never ends. And I mean not just the driving thing.

Ok, Where Was I? said...

Ha, ha, a virtual cleanse. I'm on it. I'm doing it too!

I feel so healthy.
