My brother and his wife have triplet boys who just turned 11.
I know. Triplets. Boys.
I sent them each a 20 dollar bill, and I am sharing their notes.
They always write me the funniest thank you notes which I love--
Not only because they are from my wonderful nephews, but because I feel like letters have become a dying art.
You know, the kind in an envelope and with a stamp.
Does anyone else out there find that good old fashioned letter-writing is in short supply these days?
That's right Johnny, dream big. A Lambourgini it shall be.
And Russell, I think your father is right. We are all just a bunch of hillbillies.
A pool with a gold fountain? Can I come over when you get it?

Writing is a dying art! Good fo their Mom and Dad who have taught them the proper thing to do.
Wonderful! And good on them and their folks for teaching them about thank you notes - I rarely get even an email thank you...and from adults, no less!
I always loved writing and getting letters. I have no problem with the change to email. I still write volumes more than I receive...see, even my comments are long :) !!

What adorable messages. I, too, have noticed that Thank You notes have gone by the wayside. It is the rare birthday present that is acknowledged any more.
I particularly love their personalized stationery! It's very extreme.

Thank you notes, are you kidding me? Kids do not know how to thank people at all. I am so very proud your nephews are being taught to repsond to your thoughtfullness. Wise momma there. Letter writing is in fact a lost art. My aunt has gotten where she prints out the emails from people and keeps them like they were letters. I think that is sweet. I write emails like I wrote letters, long and detailed, she seems to like it. My daughter is the best about thank you notes. She has learned she will be given more and more often because people know she truly appricates it. Sucking up? Yes maybe, but I am proud that she at least takes the time. I have nearly quit giving gifts or money to events because I never hear thank you.
Oh god I love it! I think I'll get a gold fountain for my pool soon...sounds like a great idea.
I love these ... thank you notes are a dying tradition... my late MIL always said she knew that her grandchildren got their b'day checks when she got her bank statement!

Actual handwritten notes or letters is a dying art form. It's wonderful to see another mother who still believes in it as well. BTW, beautiful letters from the boys.
Thanks for sharing the this most awesome moment. It is true the old letter days are almost gone. To bad our young ones will never know what it was like to recive a letter in the mail from some one so special. You made me cry with this and miss my grand kids.

I bought note cards like that for my sister's kids a couple of years ago - I love getting notes back on them!
I couldn't agree more. In fact I've never received a thank you note from one of my younger cousins. So this year I sent her Emily Post's Revised Etiquette Book with a bookmark on the section for Thank You notes. These boys are darling.
I love the art of the written word, Laura. I still do it! I have my special paper and my special pens that I use. I send pictures, too. I know it's a dying art, but in my own little way, I'm tryin' to keep it alive!

writing definitely is a dying art and those are priceless! my mother has instilled in me the art of writing but she is the BEST and is constantly sending out cards to people!! I popped on over from Mrs. Nesbitt's blog...I love your T's...I'm assuming those twins are yours...beautiful!
