Bird's Nest

It's not so bad the second year...
Here is The Bird's new room.
This is her stuff.
Her roommate wasn't due for another 4 hours.
It is a cute on-campus apartment.
And on a fourth-floor walk-up.
As in, we walked all this stuff up. Four flights.
I was sweaty.
And right here?
Some of The Bird's footwear.
Those pretty blue cowboy boots used to be mine.
I don't recall how they became hers.
But, here they are.
In Virginia.
I decided to let it go.
Life's too short to obsess over lost cowboy boots.
Even cute blue ones.
So we busied ourselves making her bed.
And after placing her "You Are My Sunshine" pillow
and her NY GIANTS teddy bear,
I got in my car.
And I left her there.
The Elusive Baby Bird:

I may have cried a little.

Kudos for lugging all that stuff up four flights of stairs. That was a good cardio workout!

A few tears are expected - she may shed a few too.

Been there. Done that. Luckily, SD had an elevator and fraternity boys were there to unload everything & take it up for us. All we had to do was tip them, which was well worth every penny!

Maybe you need a trip to Texas at some point in your future. You know. For something to occupy your time...

That's a lot of boots! And a lot of exercise!

Tears are expected. You're a good mommy.

Sweating and cussing, no doubt. I'll have to google that person you were asking about, thanks for visiting my blog! I would love boots like that.

well I think leaving the blue boots behind is not the end of the world....here in Oklahoma you might be made fun of by the cows if you came out in the pasture in them!!! (just kidding you, they are adorable, you could go dancing in them and the cow-(boys!) would not make fun of you at all!
Sorry you shed just a few tears this trip, you are so blessed to have such a sweet daughter and such a wonderful relationship. I know you treasure it, as you should, and I am so jealous and happy for you! hugs!

AND FOUR FLIGHTS UP????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Oxygen mask please!

It's hard enough that she left. AND she took your cowgal boots too! Tears certainly seem appropriate. I can't believe the memories that came back to me. I don't have children, but I do remember trying not to cry when my Mom left me at college. I got teary for you reading this :) Stay busy today MP Mama doing something you love and pour yourself a glass of wine!

If I could have twitched myself up there I would have helped get out of the car. Couldn't do steps but could hug you when you came down with tears!

You've come a long way baby! Bird and Mama :)

If you only cried a little bit...you did good, Girl! but did you have to pull over on the side of the road to ball? Both Fred and I had to do that when we took Erika to college.

4 stories? Gah! I'm trying to do the stairs at work to excerise and bring down my cholesterol! Double Gah!

I would have never made the first flight of stairs, let along four. As for the boots, this gives you a good reason to go buy a pair of new ones. Good luck to you and your Bird's new life.

Ohhh, I do remember those days.

Why do they want help going up those four flights of stairs and then want us to leave asap?
