This-n-That Thursday

Mostly random stuff:
  • I still say "you're welcome," when people don't thank me for, say, holding a door open.
  • Do children write thank you notes any more? Or was there a law passed that outlaws it?
  • I had a dream that I won $1 million playing bridge.  In one sitting.
  • I wonder what Princess Diana would look like today.
  • I can't decide how I truly feel about bumper stickers.
  • Why does only one side of my head get stuffy?
  • Why did Tori and Dean have to sell their new house?  I missed the first episodes.
  • Am I the only person who watches Tori and Dean?
  • I wonder if there'll be cameras at Blogfest next week....
  • I get to rub thyroid medicine in my cat's ear twice a day.  It's really fun.
  • Is there really such a thing as cat scratch fever?

I insist that SW write Thank You notes....and I chastise her friends who do not. I know, I'm mean like that!

Cat Scratch Fever is real - I'll show you my scar at Blog Fest...

Maxie's mom adding her two cents worth:

I still say "you're welcome," when people don't thank me for, say, holding a door open.
I think that the only people who thank you are senior citizens and those who would reciprocate - how sad is that!

Do children write thank you notes any more? Or was there a law passed that outlaws it?
NN's son does. Mine does sometimes, but usually he'll make a phone call.

I had a dream that I won $1 million playing bridge. In one sitting.
If our dreams were our reality...

I wonder what Princess Diana would look like today.
I'm sure she would still be beautiful as Prince Charles still looks like the spawn of Howdy Doody.

I can't decide how I truly feel about bumper stickers.
They crap up your car! IMHO that is!

Why does only one side of my head get stuffy?
You're not alone.

Why did Tori and Dean have to sell their new house? I missed the first episodes.
Am I the only person who watches Tori and Dean?
Don't know, don't care - tried watching it, but couldn't get into it.

I wonder if there'll be cameras at Blogfest next week....
Only for blackmail purposes! I'm hoping for pictures since I won't be there.

I get to rub thyroid medicine in my cat's ear twice a day. It's really fun.
At least it's not a suppository!

Is there really such a thing as cat scratch fever?
There sure is, though I've never had it - I'm not a "cat person."

Happy Thursday to you.

I must say that people tend to use their manners more in the south, but I will still remind someone if they fail to say thank you.

Thank you notes are beginning to become a lost art. it is up to the parents to instill that trait.

No thoughts on the 1 million. I would settle for $1 right about now.

Princess Diana...would definitely be getting into her hawtness right about his time. She had such timeless beauty.

Certain bumper stickers are cool...like UVA, VCU, OBX, The Spit, and my personal favorite:

"I am the proud parent of the kid who beat up your honor roll student."

I don't watch television that I can get for free. I am political like that.

Cameras at blogfest?...you crack me up.

Cat Scratch Fever? Yes...and it ain't pretty.

Good morning! Yawn...

I like that! Infusing politeness on the ill bred.

I'll be sure to teach my Grandson to write thank you notes as I taught my children.

Can you make $1 million playing bridge?

Diana would look fabulous, come on.

Stuffy? Is that the side you sleep on?

I watch Tori and Dean. I thought they moved because Dean's son was coming to live with them (I haven't seen him) and needed a bedroom for him. In addition, this house has a gate as the other one was right onthe street.

Is the Pope Catholic?

I'm with Ellen on this one!

I read a bumper sticker the other day:

'Was it love at first sight or do I need to drive by again?'

(let's just say it was on an old beat up truck driven by someone who looked like Uncle Fester)

Bumper stickers? I'm going to paste one square across my forehead that says, "NO VIDEOCAMERAS ALLOWED AT BLOG FEST."

The possibility of photos is frightening enough.

I love bumper stickers when they are on someone elses car!

Cameras at the Blogfest?? I'll bet ya that million dollars you won playing bridge.

See ya soon. Say cheese!

As Ellen said, JBM sends out thank you notes because that is what we always did. My mom looks forward to them especially since he writes them himself these days. Always interesting.

Looking forward to seeing pics from blogfest and hearing stories.

I,too, always say thank you to those who dont hold the door or cut in front of me getting on the bus

Neither of my step daughters ever sent a thank you note growing up, they were raised by a sow

And there is definitely cat scratch fever ... not all cats transmit this and not all humans get a reaction ... ask Husband about it when you see him on Saturday.

Oh and I dont watch reality TV, personally I have enough reality in my life as it is. Thanks for asking.

Cameras a Blogfest?? Naahhh ;)
And fyi, no you will not have go thru that hideous traffic to get to Blogfest. It's only getting to the OTHER side of the bay and back that is the problem :)

Yes on the cat scratch fever. I was happy to learn this while pregnant with Pitcher; got me out of litter box duty!

I insist on thank you notes.

Saying "you're welcome" when people ignore your kindness is my little passive-agressive way to remind them. Plus, it is just sort of fun!

Bumper stickers are such an interesting issue. They are fun but, do you really want them on your car?

Linda said...

I guess I'd be happy with a Thank You. My kids had to write them, but this next generation doesn't, and I blame the parents. Maybe, because I made my kids do it, they don't make their kids do it, just to say, "So there!"

Yes, take pictures of the blog fest for those of us that aren't there!

We will never be able to imagine Princess Diana as an old woman, because she died in her prime.

Most of us want to look good when we die, and most of us want to die when we are old, fat and wrinkled!

The pens still work in my family. Must be a "Southern thing". NSLO sits the same day or night and gets her thank yous out with the next mail.

I say "you're welcome" too. It peeves me when the others look at you with the "Why did you say that?" look. I have been known to follow a fellow driver and give them the finger when they do not wave thank you when I let them in. NSLO says one day I will get shot by a po'd driver!

Yes, your body part will swell up like mad from Cat Scratch fever.

Take your camera to blogfest. We want pics!!

Are there million dollar bridge tournaments? There should be.

I think Princess Diana would look stunning. I think she'd look her age and would look fabulous.

Last month I got possibly the best graduation gift thank you note ever - personal and warm and prompt. Impressive.

And why does the stuffiness roll to the other side when I turn over? If it can roll, why doesn't it roll out, like when I blow??

Tori and Dean is oddly addicting.

I do the "your welcome" thing too.

Some of my grandkids write thank you notes....some text me or call me. I accept all forms of "thanks". Just taking the time to do it is all good with me. Besides, my friends get jealous when I get text messages from my grandkids.

I had a dream I lost a million $ playing cards at blogfest...you owe me! Anyone for poker?

Princess Diane would probably have red and ruddy cheeks as an older woman. It's due to the fog in that neck of the woods.

I love reading bumper stickers...would never put them on my car.

Tori and Dean?

I'm sure blog fest will have at least a dozen nanny cams somewhere. Maybe one under Gustaf's wings. I have a camera, and my phone does too. I need pictures to prove I didn't run off with John from "John and Kate Ate Late", or some guy from Craigs list. I don't video, or even know how.

Cat scratch is real, I heard it in a song.

My children ALWAYS write thank you notes to people. If they dare try to get away with not doing it they have to deal with Mama!

I sooooooooo ♥ your Thursday deep thoughts....

I know huh? What happened to writing a thank you note...and I too will say you're welcome even when others don't say thank you...and when I ask somebody "how they are" and in my silly brain I guess they are going to ask it back and I will catch myself saying "Fine...Thank You" when they didn't say anything....just general courtesies it seems are going out the window and it makes me sad....

♥ Mama Thursdays!!!!

I let my kids send thank you emails or thank you phone calls instead. Cuz I am hip and modern.

Yes, there is cat-scratch fever. Its a real thing.

I watch Tori and Dean.

I missed the first episodes too. Cant help with the house issue.

I think Princess Di would be sporting a reverse-mullet ala Kate.

Saying 'your welcome' to people who dont say thank you is classic passive aggressive behavior. And I do it too.

I think bumper stickers are like the old school version of Tweets. And I kinda think of them as tattoos for a car. Too permanent. Too public and just junk the look up.

Well your camera better be at Blogfest...k?

I'm sure quite a few people will be bringing their cameras. I know I'm bringing one to BlogHer. I just haven't decided if I want to lug around my D70 or just bring my mini CoolPix.

Driftwood and Pumpkin said...

*sniff* I would bring my camera if I were going! I found out about it the day AFTER I booked our Maine vacation that happens to be at the same exact time. Now I feel like I am missing out on a monumental moment! :0(

Magpie said...

I say "you're welcome" too.

I mostly don't love bumper stickers. I wouldn't put one on my car, but sometimes other people's amuse me.

imom said...

My kids do thank you calls or emails for things they receive when the giver is not around. They did notes when they were younger!

I enjoy some bumper stickers on other peoples cars, but not on mine.

Uhhh, there better be cameras at Blog Fest!

Asthmagirl said...

I believe there will be cameras at blog fest. At least one!

I'm currently harping on K3 to write her thank you notes. I will probably die saying "did you send uncle dave a thank you note". Maybe I'll have it tattooed on my behind....

Country Girl said...

Diana would be beautiful. And still thin.
I am bringing my camera and will be polite with it.
And yes, I think you and a couple of people are the only ones who watch T&D. !!!!!
See you Saturday.

Karen Deborah said...

are you really asking?

Unknown said...

I have never watched Tori and Dean. I think I want to. I don't like Tori being so skinny. Skinny people bother me intensely. : (. I am sorry about your cat. Poor thing. I try to make Kaish write thank you notes. It's grizzly.

Meg McCormick said...

I have no idea who Tori & Dean are. My camera is broken, so other than my cell phone camera, your secrets will be safe with me. I force my children to write thank-you notes.
