bird: Yes.
mama: Does it embarrass you?
bird: I pretend it does. But it really doesn't. It is funny when my friends come up and ask me about my driving tiara.
mama: Will you please write a guest post for me? I am so tired.
bird: I will, but I don't know what to write.
mama: Are you excited for the coming summer?
bird: Do you honestly think I wouldn't be? I already have a good base tan.
mama: What are you looking forward to for your Senior Year?
bird: I will be at the top of the food chain.
mama: Are you excited for college?
bird: Yes. I can legally run away. Just kidding.
mama: What will I do when my babies leave?
bird: You can blog about us and put up pictures of your used tissues. I will call sometimes. WAIT.... Aren't you all about how you're coming with me?
mama: I might come along...
bird: I think Ally wants you to go with her...
mama: Ally loves me. So does Bridget. Don't you want Augie to go to college with you?
bird: No. But he can come to visit me. I want him to go to school close to me. (mama crying)
mama: What will you miss the most of home?
bird: My bed, my sheets, driving my car, my tiara. I guess I'm supposed to say I'll miss you.
mama: No. You don't have to say that. I understand. But....are you going to miss me?
bird: I'm really going to miss your shoes.
mama: *sigh

Whew...that was way too emotional for me this morning, and all too real!
Now, I am crying (geez, those darn hormones) sending you hugs from Texas sweetie, I DO know how you feel...double sigh.
Time goes way to quickly...(sighing with you).
ooops, xoxoxabb
Hey Mama...can we slow them down just a tiny bit? Baby Bird's picture is gorgeous.
We are what we wear...so in a way missing your shoes means she'll miss you too :P
I gave you goosebumps and I'm here crying! First, Bird is beautiful!
Of course she's going to miss you! When David was at college for a year, we talked more than we do now. IM's every night. His away message was for friends but I KNEW what he was doing and he came home a lot! Laundry!
Oh, MP, sending you huge hugs! And...go check out http://wonderfulworldofweiners.blogspot.com/ AND http://www.okwherewasi.com/my_weblog/
for some BIG belly laughs okay? I promise you'll feel a teeny bit better :)
You should be one proud mama.. beautiful girl.. inside as well as out.. thanks to your baby bird..
Just beautiful. It must be nice to have such a close relationship with your baby bird. Have a wonderful day!!!
Reuben is ONLY a Ruby if you want to get technical about it.
HE looks like a Reuben. End of discussion.
Hallie :)
SHE is BEAUTIFUL! yeah interpretation... I will miss your shoes means I will miss my mama...
Love this post she so sounds like martha at times... or should I say in times to come...
Love n hugs Laura
She is a beauty, but now I have to go out in public with watery eyes and a red nose. Thanks for the emotion!
Aaaahh.... so sweet ... wait til she comes home to visit ... you'll be wishing she was back at school... I know this because I have other friends who have already been there/done this/that ...
And make sure you count all your shoes!

That settles it. I just won't let my kids go away to college. No wait, I won't let them grow up. I was so excited about college, but then I spent the first night crying in my bed b/c I missed my mom.
Bird is just beautiful Mama. If she misses your shoes she is missing you as well.
What a beauty!
Yes the time eventually comes when all the little birds fly away from the nest.
I'm an empty nester and eventually it doesn't bother you. (Much)
Oh geez, it's heart-wrenching, I mean totally. I have years to go until these dreaded conversations and I can't even handle yours! I'm in trouble.
She is one grogeous girl and mama is obviously proud...
she wears your shoes?
We have worn the same sized shoe for about 5 years.....Yikes and, interesting. She has a much better sense of style than I do....and I try to shop accordingy.
LOL! You wear the same size shoes? I'm a size larger than Maybelline, but she steals my sandals. My FAVORITE sandals. I sure won't miss that.
Your girl is gorgeous. :) Don't let her pack Fred and Bessie though.
Fred and Bessie are safe and sound. Bwaaaaahaaaahaaahaa.
They are off butter....
My girl constantly borrows my sandals. We're a fool for kitten heels!
Ok ~ I boo hooed ~ I just read your post for the very 1st time! You have talent & a great kid (don't know her but love her) ~ Julie told me to check out your site & I will be back!! finally a mom I can relate to ... xoxo Mama may we have another! post ;)ti
Your daughter sounds way too much like mine, lol. "Are you excited for summer?" "Did you honestly think I wouldn't be?" Yup, just like her. Luckily, her feet were much too big for my sandals.
They miss you waaaay more than they think they will, trust me. I was ready to have the phone taken out during her first year of college. She called constantly asking for this & that. Ran me ragged the first year. Then, it tapers off...
Birdie is Birdyfull...let's buy stock in Kleenex:(
Clever post. Me likey!
She is so pretty. I love how she will miss your shoes...so sentimental. Funny girl. I see why you will miss her.
