This 'n That Thursday
- That newscaster who dropped the F-bomb on his first broadcast? He sure has had a lot of attention, and has anyone but me noticed that he cannot speak or even read a teleprompter?
- The Nashville Marathon and Half is in 2 sleeps. It's supposed to rain and thunder. The last time I ran this race, we were under a tornado warning. Those conditions were not the best.
- CBW and her Baby Sis are coming tomorrow morning to participate with me.
- I expect we'll manage to entertain ourselves.
I've been building my wine reserves. There is lots to do here. - I do not care for Michael Buble.
- Don't tell anyone, but I have already decided not to run the race on Saturday.
- My beloved dog Dora is now terrified of her empty food bowl. What is that all about?
- I am celebrating the full moon today as a sign of a great new phase.
- Jimmy Buffet is our entertainment after the race.
- I wonder if I might be a Druid.

Fragments on Friday
- It's Veterans Day weekend. Please reach out to a hero, and thank them personally for their service to you. Thank you, Debbie.
- I leave early tomorrow morning to go participate in the OBX Half Marathon on Sunday.
Once again I have procrastinated and it may be ugly.I'm not prepared as much as I'd like. - But I get to be with some awesome Blisters. So it's all good. Plus, there may be some wine afterwards.
- Dora is going here.
- This is her itinerary: THE DOG WHO THINKS HE’S A HUMAN:
» Morning Creek-side Nature Walk
» Afternoon Playtime (with fellow-human)
» Nightly Bedtime Story with Signature Bedtime Biscuit & Tuck-in
» Four additional escorted outings throughout the day - I kinda wish I was staying there with her. I mean, who wouldn't want a Bedtime Biscuit and Tuck-In?
- I have so much to learn at work. I feel like I need a kindergartner to teach me the computer stuff.
- I love country music all of a sudden. This song is my new obsession. Brad lives here in Franklin;)
- Have a safe and wonderful weekend. Wish me luck. Please.

This-n-That Thursday
- I always go into the same stall in the bathroom at work.
- I could eat turkey and avocado every single day.
- Hummingbirds are vicious with one another at my feeder.
- My dermatologist is quite the comedian.
- That Moroccan Oil hair stuff is The Best.
- I think I've finally reached the weight I want for my 'before' picture.
- Gah.
- I have become OCD about ticks.
- Do you ever have a day where you feel like you are under water?
- A summer fever is the worst.
- I am looking forward to tomorrow...and my Mini-Blister-Bash!

Greetings
Welcome to my blog. I am a middle-aged mama attempting to negotiate my daily life and what lies ahead. Sigh. Please join me as I try to maintain my equilibrium with the help of my family and friends, and maybe a few strangers just for good measure.
Greetings

Girlfriends and Blisters: Nature's Prozac
She wrote............ I just finished taking an evening class at Stanford. The last lecture was on the mind-body connection--the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker (head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her health was to nurture her relationships with her girlfriends.
At first everyone laughed, but he was serious.
Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences. Physically this quality girlfriend time" helps us to create more serotonin--a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel. Women do it all the time. We share from our souls with our sisters, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym.
There's a tendency to think that when we are "exercising" we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged--not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking! So every time you hang out to schmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health!
We are indeed very very lucky.
So let's toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it's very good for our health.

I have decided to ignore the Thunderstorm one.
Gwynn's Island Barbecue will go off without a hitch.
Now, I just need to find a suitcase large enough for all my medications and ointments.
Stay tuned for further Blogfest ramblings.

Happy Friday
A real man is a woman's best friend.
He will never stand her up and never let her down.
He will reassure her when she feels insecure and comfort her after a bad day.
He will inspire her to do things she never thought she could do; to live without fear and forget regret.
He will enable her to express her deepest emotions and give in to her most intimate desires.
He will make sure she always feels as though she's the most beautiful woman in the room and will enable her to be the most confident, sexy, seductive, and invincible.
No wait... sorry... I'm thinking of wine.
Never mind.
