Public Service Announcement!

I am hearing lots of chatter out there about Spring Cleaning.
And have I got a solution for you!
The Vietnam Veterans of America will come take it away!
They really need clothing of every kind.
And some other stuff they will take:
Shoes
All bedding items
Draperies and curtains
Housewares and glassware
Jewelry and cosmetics
Toys-games-bikes
All kinds of tools
Small furniture
Small appliances (no TVs or computer monitors)
They sell these donated items to private companies, and these funds provide almost half of their annual needs to support local, state and national service programs (homeless vets, Agent Orange related health programs and improved hospital care for veterans with disabilities).
Here is the link to see if your state has the pickup service.
Or call 1-800-775-VETS (8387).
You just leave it outside, and they will take it and leave you a tax deductible receipt.
Think about it...

A good idea. There is also something like that run by the purple heart veterans out there. I don't have any contact info but they call my parents' house every month!

Yes, I usually like the Veterans organizations. Clean. Purge. You will feel good about the down sizing.

Save that postcard - GB threw mine away. It's really for a great cause and thanks for drawing attention to it, my friend.

How's the packing going today?

It was a joke but I am glad it was part of what inspired you to post this ...

A great idea. I'm forwarding this to my sister. She is in the midst of a huge cleanout. Trying to get her house ready to put on the market!

That's a fantastic idea. I was actually thinking of going through some of the stuff in the garage. Want to come help?

Gah!

It's quite possible that I have enough stuff to fund their annual budget for an entire year. Thanks for the info.

What an awesome idea. I must stop throwing stuff out as cathartic therapy and put it to good use!!!

I used to give it to "services for the blind" but they stood me up the last three times. Now I just drive it to goodwill. I'll see if I can find the veterans.

Yep, support the vets the military and everybody who makes it possible for us to be free in the good ole USA. MY problem is the only surplus item around here right now is WEEDS.
