LOL, my sister is going INSANE. My nephew hasn't started packing...and they have to ship stuff out tomorrow. He hasn't even BOUGHT everything yet. Boy children are sure different creatures, aren't they?

Glad you're hanging in there...

My nephew left for college last Wednesday. His packing and readying for school consisted of going around and getting any money that was owed to him!!

He is just proving how much he loves you!

Love his Sponge Bob shirt. He has quite the sense of humor, huh?

You are doing great! Keep up the hanging. Isn't it interesting how differently they do things?

Spawn's been packing since he got home in May. Boys are never ready, but they usually make do with what ever they take to school.

Just keep singing that old disco song: "I Will Survive" in your head...

When my son was a freshman, I helped him pack. I filled a ziploc full of deodorant, toothpaste, vitamins, Advil... A few months later, he called home one day and mentioned that he had a headache. I said, "You have Advil. Remember, I packed it in that ziploc bag in your footlocker? "

"What bag?"

"THe one with the vitamins. The deodorant? The toothpaste? Oh dear God, please tell me you've been brushing your teeth..."

So as long as your son knows where his toothbrush is, I wouldn't worry... ;)

Wow, so what will you do with the empty nest?

That would be my kids exactly! Hahaha!

Your post made me laugh so hard! It's so typical of boys v. girls. I love the spongebob shirt, and the buffalos on the pillowcase. Just so you know, when your son is 40+ he will still wear spongebob stuff, or maybe graduate (like my son did) to Homer Simpson.

Mama will be just fine. Sending you (((hugs))).

I love all of Bird's stuff! That cool box and the pink hat. Fun!

Your son is quite the character! Have a safe trip tomorrow and a week full of memories. It's all good. I'll be thinking of you!

So funny, the difference in readiness between boy & girl. I know the process is bittersweet for you---keep hanging!

"...and this to shall pass..."

hang in there dear, it will get easier, I promise!

My daughter left today with the "final" load of stuff, for she has moved into an apartment and plans on NEVER returning home...

HAH! Momma has the money, mama has the money!

They always, always, always come home for a) mom to wash their clothes and b) for mom to give them money!

You'll manage.. you'll learn to like freedom. Really!

I think that pink hat was seen at our street party (wild west theme) recently. :)

Hang in there sweetie. Damn, why do they both leave at the same time? Ugh. Would you believe I haven't even gotten all of the pictures developed from when David went off? Didn't have a digital then. Um...guess I should do that. See? It does get easier :)

Don't worry Mama! They will call so much & come home so often, it will hardly seem like they are gone....

Thankfully, the separation process goes slowly as it allows you to adjust.

It's almost like *baby separation anxiety* in reverse. It's just your turn now...

Aw, don't sweat Boy Child's last-minute packing. I was just like him -- still am -- and look how I turned out!

Uh-oh.

Never mind.

I love it! They are a little different aren't they--boys and girls. Just a thought.
