Eight Days

In eight days, I get to take my baby boy to Villanova University near Philadelphia. Since he turned 18 last month, he has been on quite the crusade to remind me that he is an adult now. And he is in charge of himself. Uh huh.

Yesterday, he had his annual physical. I was allowed to go with him:

Augie: Why do I still have to go to the pediatrician? I'm 18 now. This is stupid.

Mama: You have to have a physical for college, and they have all your records. I think you still go there until after college.

Augie: This is crazy. I am too tall for them to even measure me. And there are babies in there. I am 18 you know.

Mama: Just humor me, okay? They have all your records, and can get all the forms filled out that you have to bring.

Augie (disgusted sigh): Do you think I'm going to get a shot?

They never really grow up, do they?

LOL--No lollipop this year, but he did get a smiley face bandaid after they drew blood. He was quite proud of it;)

Aren't they always mama's babies? If not, just lie to me and tell me that they are. K? Thanks!

Ah, don't kids always think they're more grown up than they really are?

They are always babies to their mamas! My daughter needs a trip to the doctor and shots! Not looking forward to that one.

Oh. Dear. I cried like a baby the minute we pulled away from our daughter's private dorms. Even though I knew she'd be fine, I just sobbed like a fool. Partially for joy & a lot for sadness. Maybe the doctor wouldn't mind giving you some *happy pills* just for those special occasions???

I'm counting on that a little :)

Isn't that funny? I hope he didn't cry, scaring all the other babies, in the waiting room.

Somehow he doesn't look like the crying type. You've done a good job, there.

NSLO asked how long she could go to her Dr.!! SHe laughed and told her as long as she wants!! Girls sure are different. I only have 10 days til off to the frozen tundra. Her wings are flapping and my clippers are not fast enough!
