In eight days, I get to take my baby boy to Villanova University near Philadelphia. Since he turned 18 last month, he has been on quite the crusade to remind me that he is an adult now. And he is in charge of himself. Uh huh.
Yesterday, he had his annual physical. I was allowed to go with him:
Augie: Why do I still have to go to the pediatrician? I'm 18 now. This is stupid.
Mama: You have to have a physical for college, and they have all your records. I think you still go there until after college.
Augie: This is crazy. I am too tall for them to even measure me. And there are babies in there. I am 18 you know.
Mama: Just humor me, okay? They have all your records, and can get all the forms filled out that you have to bring.
Augie (disgusted sigh): Do you think I'm going to get a shot?
They never really grow up, do they?

Did he opt for a lollipop or a sticker at the end?
Always mamas babies!
No, they never grow up. And they always love their mamas!!
I bet he took the lollipop ..
LOL--No lollipop this year, but he did get a smiley face bandaid after they drew blood. He was quite proud of it;)
Aren't they always mama's babies? If not, just lie to me and tell me that they are. K? Thanks!
Ah, don't kids always think they're more grown up than they really are?
This is hilarious!!
Chalk up another one for the memory book - that's great!
Awww...so sweet. In an 18 year old boy way. ;0)
They are always babies to their mamas! My daughter needs a trip to the doctor and shots! Not looking forward to that one.
heeheehee.....the dreaded shot. It never goes away....
Are we meeting for lunch or dinner when you make the trip?
Oh, they never really do grow up. Our little boys...always need their mothers.
Looking forward to Friday. Will email you the local when I get to my sisters on Thursday.
Hahaha...ha...tell Augie that made me laugh.
Wow! Only 8 days?? I thought it was more like 20.
Oh. Dear. I cried like a baby the minute we pulled away from our daughter's private dorms. Even though I knew she'd be fine, I just sobbed like a fool. Partially for joy & a lot for sadness. Maybe the doctor wouldn't mind giving you some *happy pills* just for those special occasions???
Caution flags comment made me laugh!
Mental P - you made me chuckle. That's a big baby boy now!
I don't know much, but I know this made me laugh.
How funny!
I'm counting on that a little :)
Isn't that funny? I hope he didn't cry, scaring all the other babies, in the waiting room.
Somehow he doesn't look like the crying type. You've done a good job, there.
lol @caution i was thinking the same thing....
NSLO asked how long she could go to her Dr.!! SHe laughed and told her as long as she wants!! Girls sure are different. I only have 10 days til off to the frozen tundra. Her wings are flapping and my clippers are not fast enough!
Caution Flag...**snort**
Did he need a shot? Did he whimper, if he did?
He looks like he needs a lollipop to me.
