I was very lucky to be invited to a meditation group last week. It was led by two Buddhist Monks from Japan, and I got so much out of it. One of the meditations was to help alleviate anger which we all know is not good for us. Or others;) We were told to visualize a calm lake. After the ten minute exercise, I swear I could feel my whole body relax and slow down ever so slightly. So, every time something bugged me this past week, I just visualized my lake. And it really works. Try it.
I am away in the Berkshires this weekend, and I wish you all time by your own lake.

I believe in meditation and yoga, none of which I find time to do. But perhaps, I will try to impliment this into my life. mmmmmmmm.....mmmmmmmm....sipping great coffee...mmmmmmmm
Oh that is nice, very nice and I wish I would remember that when the "angry time" is in my head (and mouth!)
oommmmmmmmmmm.....sipping my martini....oommmmmmm....
Hope your weekend is serene. Miss you!
I'm going to visualize being able to breathe through my nose again. :)
LUUUUUCCKKKKY!!!! Have a wonderful time...I will have to visualize your lake cuz ours are drying up due to the heat here...CAN I JUST COME LIVE WITH YOU???
Meditation is one thing that i really want to do but haven't made time to really focus on. Thanks for the tips and reminders! Have fun!
Your lake is beautiful. To get rid of my anger, I'd probably have to have something bigger, like the ocean, or outer space.
I admire you for learning more about meditation and for actually practicing it. I have read about it, but can't seem to get with the program. I think I'm too impatient, which is yet another reason to do it.
Have a wonderful weekend. I hope you're able to relax.
Have a great weekend.
I will try to imagine my own private lake. Thanks for the advice and have a wonderful time this weekend.
...Have fun!
...Btw, is it okay to visualize your husband jumping into the lake? Just wanna be clear on this... ;o)
...Blessings... :o)
Have fun!!
Oh, I'd love to go to a meditation retreat. I'd need to visualize a really big lake these days though...
Have a safe and fun trip this weekend, I need to find a lake. LOL
I work with a Chinese professor who studies meditation and the effects of learning in children. It is a very effective tool especially right before a test. It calms the kids down and is has been proven they do better.
Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy .. I bet its cold and pretty up there .. where'd you go .. Canyon Ranch ... or to Great Barrington?

We went to Colonial Williamsburg this weekend - and we had a HUGE pond behind the condo:) The ducks were hilarious, and we even had an eagle land in the tree behind our deck!
Unfortunately, work tomorrow will completely counterbalance any serenity I have built up over the last three days!!! I mostly rely on wine.
Hope you had a great weekend:)
I will definitely try that this week. I have some very stressful situations ahead of me. Thank you for sharing! Hope your Thanksgiving is lovely.
Visual a lake, huh? If this works wonders, imagine what buying a cabin on a lake (and actually moving there) would do for one's sense of calm.
It makes sense though...city dwelling is anything but stress-relieving.
