Friday Free-for-all

Nonsense I think about while I am busy avoiding other responsibilities:

  • Had dinner last night with Connecticut friends who are in town for Vanderbilt family weekend.
  • I have been quite the gal about town lately.  I need to stay in and detox.
  • That Katie Couric show is not very good.
  • Actually, all daytime TV is pretty lame.
  • Except for Michael Strahan.  He is so cute.
  • Oh, and Ellen.
  • Have transitioned Dora to an all raw diet, and almost immediately, all of her health issues have improved.
  • Is it possible to floss too much?
  • Read any good books lately?
  • If you haven't done so, please register to be a marrow donor.  And get your family to do so. Especially those younger than 40.  All you need is a cheek swab.
  • There is large azalea in full bloom here.
  • I am participating in a half marathon in one month.  I am woefully behind in training.
  • What are you doing this weekend?

I love these posts. This weekend is kind of a work weekend. For day time TV I like HGTV, DiS, and Animalplanet. I watch too much since the foot stuff. I added olive oil to my dogs diet daily and that resolved their issues. Sammy has juvenile cataracts in both eyes, any knowledge about that? Love visits from friends have fun. Training for another run? I'll pray for you. Actually it is a blessing to be ABLE to do it. Going for my mammogram and physical next week.

I registered to be a marrow donor when the child of a friend of fighting leukemia. I hope one day I can help someone.

If you need a good cry, read Still Alice. If you like thoroughly researched history, read Empire of the Summer Moon. Best books I've read this year.

My plan this weekend is to explore, explore, explore! :)

Tell me about that raw diet - is it the frozen food? And you be happy to know I've been on the marrow donor list for about 30 years now!

Taking heed at all you suggest. I love your writings. Also taking note of Woody's book suggestion. Kindle....here it comes.

My best read of the year thus far is The Fault in Our Stars! OMG, I love this book soooooo much!

You are such a delight, MPM!

The books I've read this summer that I really liked are:

The Girl W/ The Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson
The Litigators - Grisham
Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn
11/22/63 - Stephen King
The Lincoln Lawyer - Michael Connelly
Guilty Wives - James Patterson
Native Tongue - Carl Hiassen
Skin Tight - Carl Hiassen

I've read at least a dozen others but these were the best... But, obviously I like murder mysteries. I just started The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak, but am not sure about it yet.

And, yes, I've been on the marrow donor list since the hubby's parents got sick with cancer. I guess I'm still on it.

Good for you for doing another marathon!! Go get 'em!

I've heard we'd ALL be better off going on a raw diet from time to time.... Glad it's working for sweet Dora.

Wow. My mind is going in a million different ways, trying to respond to all of this but maybe it's because I've just had a cocktail. But it was a well-deserved long hell-of-a-week cocktail.

And I'm glad you're having fun. I read the Doomsday Book a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. In a time travel Medieval kinda way. Still on my mind, too.

I finished The Book Thief a while ago. It was a slow start, but a wonderful book. Read Still Alice and really enjoyed it. Just finished Same Kind of Different - wonderful story.
