Happy Blogoversary to Me: A Giveaway!

Three years ago I wrote these profound words:

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2007

Greetings

Welcome to my blog. I am a middle-aged mama attempting to negotiate my daily life and what lies ahead. Sigh. Please join me as I try to maintain my equilibrium with the help of my family and friends, and maybe a few strangers just for good measure.

Today, I count some of you "strangers" among my dear friends...ain't it funny how this here Internet works? Anywho, because I got so many comments about my coffee maker yesterday (which was only in the shot to give you an idea of how gargantuan that box of Goldfish is) I have decided to bestow one on a lucky stranger!

I think to have been along for me on this three year ride means you must be drinking lots of the caffeinated stuff. I say this because I often put myself to sleep reading my own drivel. So, I'd like to keep you awake. All you have to do is leave a New Year's Resolution for me. Enter as many times as you want, but I need a Resolution every time. Spread the word! I will announce the winner on New Year's Day!

Here's your goal:

Now get creative! Mama needs some rules for 2011!

I resolve to actually work on a book this year. This better happen, because a contract says I have one due in about six months.

Happy Blogoversary!

I also resolve to exercise more.

Not sure when that's gonna happen, but it sounds good.

Wait. Is this supposed to be a New Years resolution for you or me? If it's for you then I say make a resolution to come visit the Snootys in Texas. But if it's for me the big one is to get my house on the market & sold.

Snooty Primadona said...

I'm also making a resolution to learn to not cry at the Celine Dion concert when I go in April w/ hubby. The only thing worse than seeing a woman cry is seeing an aging woman cry in public. Ugly. Very ugly.

2. Buy 1,095 biscuits. 3 a day.

3. Have an equal amount of boots and flip flops.

Try my resolution from last year. Instead of asking 'why', ask 'why not'. :)

Debbie said...

4. Turn the water off while brushing teeth and save 8 gallons of water. Some hot guy on TV said that last night and I'm hoping he'll visit if I do it. If you do it and he comes your way...send him here, okay?

R1: I will continue to grow and spread my wings, learning to be the woman I am meant to be, and loving the one's who inspire me so.

R2: I resolve to drink more wine, love more graciously, laugh more uproariously, and always eat good food.

R3: I resolve to take my Catholic Conversion classes this Spring so I know what is going on when I go to mass and learn all those Hail Mary recitations because I am positive I need them on a daily basis.

R4: I will finally and lastly, take off the final 30 pounds I need to drop during this two year long weightloss quest.

R5: I WILL run a half marathon...not ready for a whole one yet, but a half will do...wish they had a quarter marathon.

R6: I will stop procastinating so much. Gah. It's starting to irk even me.

R7: I will spend more time loving and even less time hating. It doesn't do me any good to harbor ill will towards anyone.

R8: I will take lots and lots of photos, learning to be patient is what my camera will teach me.

R9: I will quilt and sew more than I ever have before.

R10: I will never forget what you and your words have meant to me these past THREE years...It still feels like the first time I read you just yesterday. You are an amazing part of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way.

You are the bomb, Lala and here's to 3 more years.

Love you so,

Marlene

Walk or exercise every day! Then, since I've been good exercising and trying to eat better, I will be able to take a nice long nap each day too:)

Wow! Only three years? I've been blogging four, so I always think of us being on this journey the same length of time. I'm so glad I know you!

Lessee ... travel more? Maybe to Oklahoma?

Resolve to give yourself 1/10 of what you give to others...

You deserve it Mama.

Tweezing doesn't count.

Congratulations on your 3-year anniversary! I'm 2 days away from mine. I was sent over here by Paxie Panicker, who desperately needs a new coffeemaker. So if you pull my name out of the hat, I want you to send the coffeepot to her, OK?

And I guess I'm supposed to come up with a resolution for you. How about coming to visit my blog and looking at some of my 2010 adventure pictures?!

Hey, it's me again! LOL, this is really wild to suggest resolutions for you since I don't really know you! But I want win it for Paxie Panicker! So here goes - how about resolving to do something NICE for yourself on a regular basis. How about at least 6 pedicures this summer?! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!

So you grew up in sweet little Franklin! We visited there fall 2009 and loved the area. Went out to the southern civil war mansion & graveyard. Really enjoyed the charming downtown too!

Thanks for coming to visit my blog! Hope you come back often!

Sally said...

If it was "my" resolution, I would try not to cry 'cause Snooty is gonna see Celine in April!

If it is for you, be kind to yourself (although I don't really know you) it's something most of us Mama's should do more often!

Congratulations on 3 years! Yay!

And, if I would to be chosen, please send to Debbie/Paxiepanicker 'cause she's so nice & sweet AND she sucked up on her blog! LOL

Deb said...

Late in 2010 I made a list of 53 things to do before I turn 54. I'm finding that I truly enjoy having goals to accomplish. In 2011 my resolution is finish the list by June (my birth month). In addition, I am resolute in my quest to be more creative, run my third half marathon (set for Jan 30) and get my volunteer project (teaching sewing to children waiting for adoption) off the ground. I think it's going to be a GREAT year! Happy New Year!!

Oops . . . I guess I should have written 3 comments, but that's okay. Thanks for the opportunity to win!

RiverPoet said...

I don't need another coffeemaker (or do I?) but I'll say that a great rule is to still be blogging at the end of the year. I like hopping over here to see what's up.

Peace - D

joyce said...

Umm . . . is the resolution supposed to be my resolution (which is what I posted) or a resolution for you? Oopsey, I don't feel qualified to give you a resolution, but if you need one, then I say be sure and tell your family and friends "I love you" each time you speak with them. Life is short.

Bluebird49 said...

3. Learn as much about taking better photos--hubby splurged and got me a Canon Rebel XS for Christmas (or the next 5 Christmases!;) ). I want to learn to take GOOD pictures. May take a course. (But only if it's free!)

7. Try to stress less over the situation at the nursing home Mama is in, and try not to kill anyone working down there who can't seem to get her hearing aid in and out every day. This is not rocket science--it is a matter of 10 seconds.

Bluebird49 said...

8. DRINK MORE COFFEE! :)

Bluebird49 said...

9. Make a concious effort to forgive more quickly, or to try to be more understanding to the a**e* who drive me nuts in my family.

Bluebird49 said...

10. (You said as many times as you like, right? :) Lose 20 pounds.

Debbie said...

9. Resolve to make Augie do his own laundry. Gah.

I can't even do that one.

I need to get busy today. Bluebird is my competition ((Hugs))

Debbie said...

10. Resolve to only have 3 books at a time on your bedside table to read. Any more is just clutter and we can't have that. Stick them in the closet and close the door.

Debbie said...

11. Come to North Carolina. No...you did that already and we MET!! ♥♥♥

Debbie said...

12. Resolve to be the best fundraiser in the Northeast. Nope. That's a given. East Coast? Yes.

Debbie said...

13. Instead of a resolution, choose a word for the new year. (Thanks, Jojo). My word is "GIVE". If I can stop commenting here, I'll get around to a blog post.

Italian coffe and that coffee maker- YES! I love visiting you on your blog- congrats on making it so friendly and real. Resolution 1: Do at least one thing each day to make yourself happy. Resolution 2: Do one thing each day to make someone else happy. In 2011, may your dreams come true.

Me again. Trying to win a coffeepot that you can send to Paxie Panicker! Yes, yes, on her last comment here. You need to pick a "word theme" for 2011! Now shoo, and hurry up and do it. You have less than 14 hours left...

Debbie said...

14. Get more blisters. You can never have too many.
