Food for Thought

800 pounds of non-perishable food.
All collected at a cocktail party.
And donated to the local shelter.
Think about it.

Doing that for the second year at our Christmas open house. Last year I took about 10 bags to the St. Vincent DePaul food bank at my church.

What a fantastic idea!

There is a man around here, next county over, who does the Griswold-category of Christmas lights at his house. I mean Griswold on steroids - there are thousands of lights, dozens of blow ups and it is a winter wonderland. Anyway, all he asks to see his spectacle is donations of canned food OR items the local pet shelter can use like clorox, towels, food, cat litter, etc.

This year their goal? FIVE THOUSAND POUNDS. And they'll get it.

It's amazing how much can be done if everyone just did a little something.

Maybe next Blog Fest we donate something? (I mean besides brain cells.)

Very cool thing to do. My office collects by the big barrels every year and it goes to the homeless shelters and food bank here. It is not just food but clothing and stuff like that.
