Hump Day Quiz

I think a lot of this is water under the bridge. But I must take a moment on my soapbox to say that no child needs his or her parent to be their "buddy." Those kids are invariably the ones who end up in some sort of a pickle. Sooner rather than later. I am a human, and I am as flawed as the next guy. But my kids are awesome. Other parents even tell me so. They are awesome, and I like to think that their father and I may have had something to do with it. Just a little bit. Okay...as you were.

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.

You can tell when it's time to let kids off the hook, and when it's time to lay down the law.

While your parenting is modern and hip, it's not over the top.

You know that there's nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager... or a drill sergeant!

And, yes, Baby Bird, I know my sentence structure is no good. Anybody want to weigh in here?

Oh I'll be/am a cool parent too. My kids are pretty darn amazing too and I'm forever telling my in-laws that they didn't get that way by themselves. gah, give a little credit! Happy Wednesday mama

The sweetest outcome?- being the firm parent while my daughter was growing up, but now as adults, being friends. I admire and really like her!

Yep, cool parent here. Certainly don't feel that way but I'll take what I can get.

Cool here too. I'm pretty satisfied with the job we did too.

Was just thinking of my brother's GF and her parenting. She's going to regret it later, but I'm not sticking my nose in...well except for an occasional comment when I can!! LOL

Too many parents make this mistake. I'm thinking you and Bird are going to be wonderful best friends for LIFE :) Augie...he'll give you big bear hugs when he sees you!!

Yes. You done good Mama.

Cool parent here too... and I agree, parents should be parents, not friends! That's not to say you can't enjoy each other and have fun, but you have to make sure you don't have fun to the point of not raising your kid.

You did raise two fabulous young adults. I am not taking this test/quiz because its pointless, I dont have kids and if I did lawd have mercy for sure they'd have no sense of direction .. ;-)

You can't be a parent and a friend to your children. The best advice I got from my parents. You may not win the popularity contest with your children and their friends, but you'll wind up with children who become responsible adults.

I'll never forget when John, who was in high school at the time, told me that he finally understood why we had rules and were "strict" with him. And then he thanked me for it.

You raised great kids.

Cool parent here too. I have had my kid's friends tell me I was cool, which always makes me feel good!

I don't even need to take this quiz. I do not believe in the "Friend/buddy" method of parenting....you know, the "do they think I"m cool," or "we're best friends" approach.

I'm not here to be their Friend. I'm here to train, rear and guide them into being successfully functional -- and God-willing -- contributive adults to this world when they fly from Dad's and my nest.

I LIKE them a great deal. I love them more than I can even verbalize. And I can't wait to be their Friend....in about 10-15 years......=)

I landed on the uncool side of the quiz. Who would've thunk it? :)
