This 'n That Thursday

Things I'm sick and tired of:

  • Beyoncegate.
  • The actual size of a Subway sandwich.
  • How cold it is.  It's winter, people, get over it.
  • The Great Flu Shot Debate.
  • When people get a stomach virus and call it the flu.
  • When people get a cold and call it the flu.
  • Conspiracy theories.
  • Lance Armstrong.
  • Angelina Jolie.
  • Manti Te'o.
You?

This 'n That Thursday

  • Heavy frost on the ground this morning; gonna be 70 by Sunday.  I love this place.
  • I have never seen or read Old Yeller.
  • Christmas travel plans are complete.  Dora and I are driving to Connecticut.  By ourselves.
  • After having thoroughly researched the subject, I believe I have found a hairdresser.  There is a three and a half week wait to see her.  Things are gonna get ugly before then.
  • Of all the spam emails I get, it's the Barry Manilow ones that have me most perplexed.
  • Setting achievable goals for the coming year is hard.
  • Why can I not get rid of those Samsung USA posts on my Facebook page?  They annoy the tar out of me.
  • Yesterday's full moon/eclipse/Jupiter business was amazing.  And my dreams last night were wild.  You?
  • Do you think an old lady can learn to play the guitar?  And play it well?
  • I just saw an ad for Neiman Marcus and Target on December 1.  I am officially intrigued.
  • I have a day full of classes and coaching today...better go figure out what to do with this hair.  What does your day look like?
I hope it's a great one.

Monday Morning Tarot Card

This mess is all because I cannot find a decent horoscope for today.  I'm thinking I should just go back in my room and shut the door.Apr 2, 2012

GENERAL MEANING: Traditionally, the card known as the Hanged Man usually indicates a lack of ability to help oneself through independent action. This energy is arrested and awaiting judgment. With this card, there is no avenue for the will to regain control until the situation has passed.
This represents a good time to be philosophical, to study and meditate upon the position you find yourself in, and form resolutions for the moment you become free again. Only those who possess wisdom, patience and optimism will be able to see through limitations, including possible humiliation, to grasp the inspiring lesson one can gain from such an experience.
Ugh  What's your Tarot Card today?

This 'n That Thursday

Things that annoy the tar out of me:
  • People who say "y'all" when they aren't from the south.
  • Those cars that wait for you to get right up to them and then they pull right out in front of you.
  • And then they drive 10 miles under the speed limit.
  • The phrase "on so many levels."  Gah
  • My procrastination issue.
  • The line out the door at the post office when workers are at every window, but only one is actually helping people.
  • Those dents in my head above my ears from my reading glasses.
  • Ticks.
  • Door dings all over my car.
  • Loud people.
  • Dull tweezers.
You?

Some more role reversal.
And waking up in Bridgeport, Connecticut on a train at midnight?
Is the stuff of nightmares.
You have to trust me on this one...

And The Bird was so relieved that I was home...
She was able to think about accessorizing her apartment.

Disney Race Eve

Tomorrow portends to be an interesting morning....
Getting my 20-year-old son to the start line should be enough to earn me my finishers' medal.
I'm just sayin'....

Hibernating

Today's Aquarius Horoscope from Cafe Astrology

Restlessness and impatience can threaten to ruin your day if you are not careful, dear Aquarius. You want to push your way through your daily routine so that you can do more interesting things, but the people around you may not seem to be moving quickly enough! Tune out distractions so that you can focus on one thing at a time. Avoid provoking others, even subtly, by an impatient manner.

How's your's?
If anybody needs me, I'll be around tomorrow. Oh, Happy 2012!

Due to much procrastination,
this is a day of much scurrying about...
And that is that.

Tell me something random.
And funny.

Only on Monday

Today's Aquarius Horoscope from Cafe Astrology
Emotionally, you could feel a tad out of sync today, dear Aquarius. This can actually be a good thing, as your mood could push you out of complacency and into action. You have the opportunity to work on resolving problems from the small things forward. Aim to create order out of something today, whether it involves cleaning out your drawers or freeing your mind from clutter - or both, as taking care of irksome problems can help clear up your mind.

A "tad out of sync"? Well it is Monday. And I guess I better get going on creating some order. Sigh.
Is yours any better?

This-n-That Thursday

Randomness from an addled little brain:
  • I am lacking "transitional" clothing in my closet. What to wear when it's in the 60's and humid. In November?
  • I am hopelessly dependent on my reading glasses.
  • Augie and I are running a half marathon on January 7. We are horrifically underprepared as of now.
  • Can someone explain Rick Perry to me?
  • Can someone explain why anyone would want to be the POTUS?
  • The Bird and I went to a beautiful wedding in September, and the resident dog was named POTUS. His humans are both attorneys in DC. Isn't that clever?
  • We had a police chase in Westport yesterday. No one was hurt, but a Bentley got clipped. Oh, and they finally caught the guy--a really bad guy.
  • Seriously. I have nothing to wear to work today. It's so hot out there. And I am still seeing piles of snow from our little Halloween "dusting."
  • Does arthritis pain wake you up at night? My right hip does.
  • I cannot get enough ricotta cheese. It really is an odd thing.
  • I'm getting my hair done tomorrow. It is way overdue.
  • I guess I need to get going. I seriously don't know what I'm gonna wear today.
UPDATE 8:52: I have decided on black pants and a nice gauzy blue tunic that The Baby Bird brought me from Morocco! Now, carry on.....

Lively, Imaginative

Oct 31, 2011

Today's Horoscope for Aquarius

Your lively, imaginative spirit is in tune with the collective. The need for a worldly consciousness and evolving humanity has become more obvious to you as time goes by. These issues come up today, but don't be surprised if you get a reality check. Your dreams may be unrealistic. Someone could try to burst your bubble, so be careful. Don't lose sight of your goals.

"The need for a worldly consciousness and evolving humanity..." By 7:30 this morning, Dora and I had been almost run over by speeding neighbors not one, not two, but three times. Yeah. The evolving humanity needs to take shape soon here in Connecticut. I think we need some humanity before it can even evolve.

Bubble almost burst. But not gonna happen.

Happy Monday. How'd your day start? Does your scope sound better?

Yawn

Today's Aquarius Horoscope from Cafe Astrology

The tendency now is to keep others at arm's length, and this is fine just for now if you are not feeling up to par socially. However, it's important to avoid totally alienating others while you do take your time to observe rather than act. Differences in values are highlighted now, and you could be feeling that important people in your life either don't understand what you value or have radically different values than your own. It's not the time to push others away, but rather to pull yourself back a little in order to collect yourself. In fact, you have much to learn from your intuition now.

Creativity: Excellent ~ Love: Fair ~ Business: Fair

Hope yours is better.

Oopsie

Sep 21, 2011

Today's Horoscope for Aquarius

There's tension all around you, so you'll be happiest spending as much time by yourself as possible, Aquarius. If you must interact with people, keep your communication clear and concise. There's room for misunderstanding, which could result in a major blowup over a minor event. It simply isn't worth the trouble being with people today. Seclusion is the only place where you'll find peace.
And I'm on my way to a big Expo this morning... Hope everybody likes my concise communication.

What are you supposed to be doing today?

Not the Shoemaker's Daughters...

Mental P and the Baby Bird went to the middle of Virginia
for a beautiful wedding.
They were prepared:
They decided that they could have used a few more.
No joke.
They may need help.

This-n-That Thursday

What a week this is turning out to be:
  • Said "hello" to my daughter and then "goodbye" 5 hours later.
  • Both children depart for school the same day.
  • Experienced a bad case of the empty nest blues on Monday.
  • Son resumes school-year selective texting-answers-to-mom technique.
  • Survived the Earthquake of August 23!
  • Ridiculed by Virginia-based daughter for all the "earthquake drama."
  • Empty nest blues miraculously lift.
  • Attention turns to Hurricane Irene and this "cone of uncertainty" business.
  • Have begun to lay in supplies: Pre washed salad, avocado, wine, cottage cheese, vodka, broccoli, olives, tweezers.
  • Thinking about maybe getting some batteries and water, but is afraid of being accused of exhibiting signs of "hurricane drama" and setting self up for more ridicule.
  • How're things by you?
