A Message from The Bird:

"School blocked your blog! Too many visitors I guess haha"

Does this mean I'm finally one of the popular girls?

Winner!

I went to Random. org and the first number I got was 5!  Annie:

TSannie said...

Got to go find my copy of this and reread it. It was a compelling book. I think I believe in reincarnation, but being the skeptic I am...

(Don't include me in the draw, you've already given one to me. Oh, and thanks!)

So, I did it again:  19!  Treasia wins the book!

Treasia said...

I believe in reincarnation. We are a soul more so than a body and anything is possible regarding our soul. After having an "out of body" experience during surgery once I came to believe almost anything is possible in this world. I would love to read this book.

Treasia, email me your address!  You are going to love this!

Mama Reads: Another Book Giveaway

What are your thoughts on reincarnation?  I sometimes think I know some people I have been before.  And I believe I know some lives my children have lived before this one.  But those are stories for another day.  Are you sufficiently scared of me now?

I have just finished reading Many Lives, Many Masters by Brian L. Weiss for the second time.  And I found it even more compelling than I did ten years ago.  The book is the true account of Weiss' (a clinical psychiatrist) experiences and spiritual growth as he treats a young woman for severe anxiety and recurring nightmares.  The book follows her treatment via hypnotherapy where she revisits past life experiences along with insights for her doctor.

Have any of you ever read this before?  If not, I am giving away my copy for you to read, tell us what you think, and pass it on.  Just leave a comment and tell me what you think of reincarnation:  Yes, No, Maybe...?  I would be willing to bet that this book will have an impact on you whatever your present mindset might be.  I'll randomly draw the winner tomorrow morning (4/30) at 8 EST.  Have a wonderful day!

I Don't Do Stupid

And this photo op over NYC yesterday was stupid.

And you know what else is stupid?
That Craigslist killer's fiance, who insists on being so public about her belief that he is innocent.  I understand the need to stand by your man, but I don't want to listen to her.  She should be thankful to be alive.  gah

Anybody else got some stupid to share?

Yeah, Baby

The More Magazine Marathon and Half Marathon.
NYC, Central Park, April 26, 2009:
It was amazing.
It was HOT.
It was so hot, they cancelled the marathon.
Everyone ran the half marathon instead.
(Because it is so easy?)
The whole event (13.1 miles) ran un-timed.
That was just fine with me;)
And the other 9,999 of us gathered there....
HOT
Did I say that yet?
Home!  Flowers from my family;)
My Birdy and my Augie...
A love note from Squazz:
Mama and her medal.
An awesome day.
And from the very bottom of my heart,
I thank every last one of you for the well wishes.

Touched by a Story

I know it's a beautiful day out there today, but please try and visit here.  It'll just take a minute, and maybe you'll be able to give Kelaya one or two of your wonderful and generous words of encouragement.  I know you've all helped me when I needed it.

Thanks.

Ask Mental P...

This-n-That Thursday

A whole bag of nothin'
  • Thank you all for your well wishes.  I feel so much better!
  • I hate to throw up. However, I think it worked my abs a little bit.  Sorry for the TMI.
  • I love ginger ale and ginger tea.  This is a good thing.
  • The same goes with saltine crackers.
  • Just finishing Mrs. Lincoln: A Life by Catherine Clinton; I think Mary has been unfairly judged by most.  Great book.
  • The ducks were here this morning.
  • We have two big coyotes in the neighborhood. One of them was in our yard two nights ago. This is not a good thing.  Especially if you are a duck looking to nest.
  • I think the ships in the Indian Ocean should hire armed guards.  The pirate issue will go away.
  • I cannot wait to see that Disney movie Earth.
  • I have had to unfriend some folks on Facebook who do nothing but sit and take those quizzes all day.  Um, I don't care what your mafia name is...sorry.  I wonder if they'll notice.
  • On the other hand, Twitter is still my pet.  Go figure.
  • Today is William Shakespeare's 445th birthday.  Do you think the works were his alone, or a group of writers'?  I think they were his alone.  And I have a crush on him.
  • The forecast high for Sunday in NYC is 88.  The Mental P Preferred Temperature is 70-75.   Why did I sign up for that half marathon?

They're Here!!

It was a long Winter...
So we opened the pool a little early this year.
An hour later?
It was sleeting.
But this morning?
Yeah, baby!
The Mental P Mallards are back!
Not even 24 hours after the cover came off!
Do you think he's cleaning?
She is clearly in a supervisory role.
House hunting?
Do we dare let them?

To sleep, perchance to dream-
ay, there's the rub.

The Bird's Senior Prom

The annual Humoring-Mama-Pose.
Do you think it would kill him to smile?
Atta boy.
He reminds me more and more of his father....
But just between us, doesn't he look like that Chuckie doll?
Pretty, patient, pink and priceless.
Belles.
Words fail me.
A couple of Beaux?
I'm with Dora.

Analyze This One, Please

I had an all-encompassing dream on Wednesday night:
First, I traveled to Tennessee for an event and to be with my family.
My mother was alive in this dream.
Which meant I was going to have clothing issues.
Did I ever tell you that my mom didn't want me to wear jeans.
Ever.
So, the good daughter that I was spent three years at Vanderbilt hospital...
dressed to the nines like a good Southern Lady.
But I digress.
I arrive in Tennessee with a suitcase full of the wrong clothes,
and a western omelet that has escaped its container and soiled everything.

I manage to find something decent to wear in the hotel gift shop.
I know, but it is a dream, remember?
I go to my room to get ready for the dinner dance,
and my roommate(?) starts banging on the door.
It's Lindsay Lohan, and I have to help her hide from the paps.
~~~
With dreams like these, it's no wonder I'm so tired all the time.
Thoughts?
This-n-That Thursday
The one where I procrastinate and spend time writing about it:
  • It's really easy to switch your closet back to warm-weather clothes when you never made the switch for winter.
  • If you shuffle the papers around on your desk long enough, some of them become outdated and you can then throw them away. Now that is what I call progress.
  • How long do you wait for a sore tooth before you call the dentist?  I am thinking six months.
  • Clean clothes can just as easily be worn from where they sit in the laundry basket.  Putting them away takes up valuable time that you can better use to organize your desk shuffle those annoying papers around.
  • The closet floor can serve as a receptacle for dirty things until you finish wearing everything in the basket.
  • Put some socks on the dog for easy dust-mopping.
  • Ditto for the cat, but expect to find them hidden in the litter box.
  • What is the difference between procrastination and laziness?
  • I am hoping: "A lot."
  • "Andy Griffith" on TVLand is the best time waster.  Every. Single. Night.
  • How can you beat Aunt Bea, Barney and Miss Crump?  Seriously?
  • Oops.  I think I just remembered mildewing laundry.
  • Stupid bills get in the way of everything.  Even laundry.
  • See?  There's a cure for laundry.  But do you dare?
My Dependents
In honor of April 15, tax day here in the good ol' USofA,
I thought I'd trot out one of my dependents.
Aside from an annual tax deduction,
the offspring sometimes make good blog fodder.
The Bird is a shopping girl.
I don't understand where it comes from.
Speaking of dependents,
can you imagine what OctoMommy's tax returns must look like?
14 children and very little earned income?
I want her refund check.
But she can keep the rest of her life.
Especially all those babies....
I have this one.
And this one.
Plus?
We have this new store.
The Bird and I have decided it is okay.
We actually left empty-handed.
And The Aug-Man?
It's a rare store that he'll shop in.
(Thank you very much.)
Tread lightly my friends.
I hope your wait at the Post Office is a short one.
My Friends at the Gym
Day two thousand and ninety three of my return to health:
And then I go home and do more.
Riiiight.
Seriously, who the hell invented this?
Are you aware that your armpits can get a muscle strain?
A Vision in Lucite
Shauna's Special Easter Parade.
It looks like she has added an apprentice to the entourage....
How much fun will it be to have two of them????
A  special little dance....
Do you think Shauna forgot she was wearing her nightie?
Nope.  I don't either.
Isn't she something?
Fat Free Monday
I had waaaay too much weekend.  Before my feet hit the ground this morning, I made the decision to make it an "all-plant-food" day.  This horoscope just confirms it for me. And now, I'm off to make some oatmeal.  Does anybody want some chocolate and jelly beans?
