The Inmates Take Over

Yesterday, Annie, Jules, Miss P and I went to a class where we learned about pairing wine and artisanal cheeses.   Jules and I were in the back seat, and we were on the verge of barfing the whole way there.  We had a nice long, scenic, leisurely drive into Litchfield County; to Skitch and Ruth Henderson's Place called The Silo.  Skitch Henderson was an amazing composer and entertainer, and they bought this beautiful farm in the early 1970's.  It survives and thrives today as a culinary school, art gallery, museum, and artists' haven.

That is all fine and good.  The real story is that we Cocktail Cornerians got ourselves educated.  Things will never be the same.  Nosiree.  We are experts in wine and cheese pairings now.

Annie and Jules.  World class scholars.
I think they liked it.
Some fancy mushrooms.
I get a mother and child vibe.  You?

A good time.
Indeed.

Watch out....sticking your nose that far into a wine glass might be dangerous. You remember what happened to Steve Martin's character in Roxanne don't you?

My goodness your friend is a go-getter!
PS another Roxanne reference...sign to go watch the movie soon.

I'll be expecting wine and cheese posts soon....K?

Yes, you must educate your readers, please. I'll send you my address and you can ship the cheese and wine directly here. Well, directly to my post office, which I then have to drive to.

Or, if you'd like to do an on-site seminar, we could invite some of the other Virginia-area MPM fans and you could get your visit in and we could get our wine ingested. I mean, we could learn more about the nectar of the gods. I mean, we could become more knowledgeable in the art of wine and cheese.

When does class begin?

Sign me up for the class in VA. I'm confident that CBW will make a fabulous hostess.

Over the weekend, I was drinking wine and reading a Southern Living at Home recipe for festive marinated cheese. Does that count?

Looks like lots of fun. And while you were indulging in w(h)ine and cheese, I was freezing by the river in Hartford, huddled under a canopy with dozens of college rowers. The sun came out shortly after our team finished rowing.
