This-n-That Thursday

What a week it's been:
  • I managed to get a pot roast in the oven last Friday with the fire alarm going off only once.  I am not counting the burglar alarm, which also went off during the ensuing melee.
  • I am kinda liking those foot detox pads.  I don't know if it's all in my head, but I do feel better. And lots of energy.  Really.
  • I have developed a passive-aggressive tendency to be late for the gym.  Lucia is not the least bit amused.
  • Speaking of Lucia, her romance with the nice man is going very well.
  • I am not going to talk about Weight Watchers. And you can't make me.
  • I have too many non-profit fundraising projects going on right now.  When will I learn to say "no"?
  • I cried while I wrote college recommendations for my children's guidance counselors.  They really are my light, and I'm going to miss them terribly when they leave this nest.
  • There is such a nip in the air, that I think it's time to switch the closet around.  And make the switch from chardonnay to cabernet.  Or chianti.
  • Can someone explain the phenomenon where you begin to itch horribly as soon as you apply nail polish?  As soon as that top coat goes on, I become suddenly aware of a deep and sanity-compromising inner ear itch.
  • I think I may have a closet toilet-paper eater in this house.  What else could explain why we never have any?

LOL - itching the ear after applying nail polish.

It's the same way with an incredible urge to scratch a mosquito bite once you see the welt. If you don't see it, it doesn't scratch.

Yes, it's getting cooler here too at night. I love fall.

I was just thinking yesterday that it is time to break out the shirts with 3/4 sleeves. But with "the change" going on, I doubt if turtlenecks are in my future again this year. Of course, my husband hasn't unpacked his summer things yet - it was easier to just buy new than to figute out what he already had. There is no way that will happen with the cold weather clothes.

it never fails my NOSE will itch when th enails are wet. The weather is changing here too but what always happens here is we get a week of fall then it gets hot again then cool then HOT then cold then ... you catch where this is going... it is not unheard of to have the heater on thanksgiving and the A/C on christmas...

First of all, thank you so much for not mentioning Weight Watchers, and I will never make you! Because then I have to feel vaguely guilty for my fatness and lack of determination to do anything about it. So you have made it a good Thursday for me. :)

And??? And??? The words "alarm" and "ensuing melee" with respect to cooking a roast? Hilarious. I laughed through your whole This-n-That thinking about the ensuing melee! Until I came to the part about missing your kids...been there, NOT fun. But you will get through it and it does get better when they excel in the world!

And finally. I, the queen of hot flash nation, am sitting here wearing a sweatshirt. Woe is me.

I was just thinking it's about time to switch from Pinot Grigio to a nice Cab or Merlot. Along with switching out the closet. Yep, that time of year.

I'm laughing because you're switching from chardonnay to a different drink because it's autumn. Years ago, I used to switch from vodka to bourbon for a season change. But then I found chardonnay and I figure it's seasonless. Have a great day!

Taking my oldest to college was the hardest, I mean the hardest thing my husband and I ever did. After getting her settled, we left our baby behind, got on the interstate and my husband had to pull the car over to the side of the road because we were both crying uncontrolably! Honestly, that is what happened. When number two child went off to college, nothing. Not a tear. Go figure.
All I can tell you is to prepare yourself.

So you still like the foot detox pads, huh? I guess that means I'll have to buy a couple of boxes. My Hunny will want to try them, too.

My son just learned last week that girls actually wipe. It helped him understand where all the toilet paper goes. He was horrified.

Rather than replacing chardonnay with a nice, warm red, I recommend adding the red to your repertoire.

There can never be too much wine, just like there can never be too much toilet paper.

Oh, one other thing. I bought a ped egg yesterday based on your recommendation (I think? Or did I dream that I read about it here?) I love the doggone thing. It's just a cheese grater for the feet but it works.

I think there may be a toilet paper thief here in cocktail corner - we never have any either!

O the issues are never ending!

I may have to try the foot detox pads. You're the second person who has recommended them!

Peace - D

I confess, I am a toilet paper hoarder.
I refuse to use the cheap stuff, so when my expensive soft brand goes on sale I stock up big time.

Why not, it doesn't have an expiration date.
Does it?

See I don't have the itching after polish problem, I have the toddler waking from nap PRECISELY as I finish painting them and wanting to eat right this minute or he may waste away...yeah.

I vote for the Chianti!!!

Toilet Paper...could it be after football games on the weekends when it goes missing? We had a similar problem until the culprits got busted by Mom!!! (t-peeing houses around here is a sign of love)...I will have to post about the one time my father got involved.

I love the cooler temps because now I can be mildly warm with those hot flashes.

I love how you always make me laugh until I cry.

I'm in the market for a fall drink. I fear gin with ginger ale and a lime twist is too summery for October, even in Mississippi. So let me know what you find out about a good cabernet.

Oh I am so happy to hear the nice man is going well, I forgot about that...you must update us more.

the foot detox pads are intriguing. I may have to try them.

I just rejoined weight watchers for the 203430580495834509285th time on tuesday. It never ends. LOL

whatever happens to you when you apply nail polish happens to me when I put on sterile gloves at work. It must be some kind of funky allergic reaction. :-)
