Friday Frivolities

  • Wheeee!
  • I saw Zero Dark Thirty on Wednesday.  Verdict: go see it.
  • I have a surplus of kale from the farmers' market.  Anybody have a good soup recipe?  Without legumes?
  • I always thought Lance Armstrong was a creep.  Now I really do.
  • Fun fact: he and my mother had an oncologist in common on their respective teams.
  • I am going on a girls' night out tomorrow night with work friends.  We have hired a stretch SUV to drive us all over Nashville.  I'm a little scared.  But like the intrepid reporter I am, I will have a full report next week.
  • At what age do we start ignoring birthdays?
  • I have been reminiscing about my Barbie dolls lately.  Wonder what that means. Prolly related to the whole birthday business....
  • Do you have an exciting plan for the weekend?

I think we should start expanding the birthday celebrations as we get older. I take the whole month of April. I also do half-birthdays and sometimes quarter-birthdays :)

No exciting plans here. I always got a creepy feeling from Armstrong. Have a great time on your Nashville Night!!

I stopped counting at age 50. Of course, you know that was only a couple of years ago.

Have a great time with your friends, sounds like fun. Do not be afraid. But, yes a full report will be expected.

Sorry about the kale; I don't even know what that is. :)

xoxo

I have a friend who is in her early 50's and she collects Sindy and Barbie stuff. I don't quite get it, but then I'm sure she doesn't get my interest in cheap tacky bling.

It's snowing here, so my plans for the weekend will involve feeling trapped in the house with 2 tetchy kids and one tetchy partner.

One of my favorite Public Radio shows is The Splendid Table. Last Sunday the host was interviewing Anna Thomas, a chef that has a constant pot of "green soup" going all winter long. If you read the transcript, she talks about how she makes her "green soup" (there's also a link at the bottom to listen to it): http://www.splendidtable.org/story/cold-winters-are-more-colorful-with-a-warm-bowl-of-green-soup

I'm putting away the holiday stuff. Most of it's down and sitting in the other room. But things have been happening, leaving me no time to do it. Other than that, I have no plans but I'm sure I'll find something.
Lance used to be our hero. We watched every Tour de France. My husband biked and actually knew Floyd Landers when he was young. But Lance is dead to me now. Creep.

That's right, you're a fellow Aquarian! Enjoy, always.

KALE: saute some onion and garlic in a little olive oil in a big skillet. Chop the kale and throw in. Stir until it wilts down. Cool and then bag and freeze. Add to casseroles and soup like you would spinach.

The girls' night sounds fabulous and I hope you have a wonderful time...

I also had no idea what a creep he was.

Hoping to see Zero Dark Thirty and also want to see Guilt Trip, but I want to see with David :)

Birthdays? Thankful LOL

I took up vinyl tile in the laundry room. Such fun :(
