Psychosomatic Mama (With a Prize at the End)

One of my major phobias or quirks--I like the word quirk better--is that I am a highly suggestible lass.  If you were my mentor, you would not like to role play drug/alcohol/predator scenarios with me.  I would fall flat out in an anxiety attack.

I first realized the depth of my crap issues when my mother had some breast surgery during my Freshman year of college.  My own boobs breasts hurt for weeks.  I was doubled over in pain when I visited her. It wasn't the least bit pretty.  I think her doctors thought I should be admitted to the eighth floor. I managed to escape.

I had babies and this issue didn't go away.  If anything, it got worse. Anytime a playgroup mother would mention the words "stomach virus," I would hermetically seal my house (thank you Ed McMahon).  Nausea gripped me for days on end.  I finally had to quit the playgroup. Sorry kids.... Who needed this crap?

Yesterday, I took a friend to the doctor for a checkup after a major back and neck surgery.  I swear to you that I had to come home and mainline Advil.   Gah.

Also, this week, we have been watching as Asthmagirl's K2 bravely had her tonsils removed.  I swear I've had a sore throat for two fricking days.  The good news is that all seems to be going well in Seattle, and the rest of the crap is up to me and my overactive mind.

In the meantime, AsthmaGirl herself has given me an honor which I am going to try to deserve. Isn't it beautiful?

 The Rules:

1) Pick five (5) blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.

2) Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.

3) Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.

4) Award-winner and the one who has given the prize have to show the link of “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award which is here: "
Arte y Pico".

My five choices are:

Chesapeake Bay Woman-- I love her writing and photography and I want to go visit her.

Chronicles of a Country Girl--I love her writing and photography and I want to go visit her.  In her new house. ;) I may or may not kidnap a certain dog.

Stacey Huston-- Are you seeing a pattern yet?  Her Wyoming home and photography are amazing.  As are her words.

Keetha-- Another Mississippi Queen.  'Nough said.  The writing and photography go along with the package;)

holly--Our favorite expat. Her tribute to Sophia Petrillo should convince you...

I have to go now.  I seem to have developed a slight rash after that news bit on poison ivy.

Spread the love, people, spread the love.

Dear Psycho OOOOPS, I meant Mental Mama,

Perhaps you've seen the news that a virulent form of athelete's foot that seems to be on the rise. No one can figure out how to treat it, but scientists are pretty sure it's being spread by squirrels who carry it and walk on these surfaces. It is mostly transferred to humans who have been walking barefoot on pool decks and lawns. Your toes will begin to burn and you will want to rip them off. It's really gross and only gets worse from there.
Just thought you should know, dear. That's what friends are for!
Are your toes burning yet?
xoxoabb

...I read that to much reading of blogs can cause deteoration of the right side of the brain which can cause blindness, memory lapse and erectile dysfunction. That if one is persistent in continually surfing blogs for hours on end that they must read blogs that offer visual stimulation such as colored type and photographic images. This information comes to you courtesy of the Venezuelan Medical Board.

...If you have read and believe the above then please do contact me as I have the most wonderful ocean front property for sale. ;o)

...Blessings for a cure for whatever is ailing you at this moment...lol... :oD

This one makes me laugh as I can relate to feeling the pain of everyone and everything around me. Usually my feet hurt when I am thinking I have caught the deadliest of deadlies. Um the erectile dysfunction comment by tj made me hoot. I would like to see if you could have sympathy dysfunction.

i am so going to b-slap blogger. i typed a whole cool comment (of course all the ones that fail are cool....) and now i can't remember it and it's lost in the ether.

(shaking fist at blogger)

anyway.

i thank you. my ancestry thanks you, my descendants thank you. never was it envisaged that such a girl from wyoming (yes, that's right, i'm *also* from wyoming) could rise to such lofty heights.

it's a true testament to the spirit of blogging that a person who never took a shot at jfk could achieve such fame.

and i can give myself a headache by saying "i think i'm getting a headache." so i *never* call in with a headache. i call in with brain-freeze. that's more temporary.

I am honored, truly. And I can't believe how mean Annie is to you. (kidding). Take care of yourself. And your feet!

Seriously?! Squirrels and athletes foot? No way! Say it ain't so!

Hey - I kept meaning, all summer, to get a thank you gift out your way. You know, for being such a wonderful host mama to my babies. This new job, weird hours, blah, blah, blah.

Anyway, the "little something" finally came in the mail today! I should be getting it out to you shortly. Thank you again!

I've left something for you on my site. And not just because you left something for me. I meant to post about it today but autoposted about the kitten.

Hi Mental P - Sorry I haven't dropped in sooner, but I'm here now.

I'm all about the sympathy pains, too, but my husband is actually the worst one at that. Ever since my first pregnancy (eons ago), he has developed whatever ailment I have, at least for a bit.

Funny, isn't it, what the mind can do?

Peace - D

Okay, well, we have that in common for sure, lol. I was thinking I wasn't that way before kids, but after I thought about, I realize that I've always been this way. Gah.

That is the funniest post!! OMgosh, I am laughing loud enough to wake the child I would've sold if she hadn't gone to bed when she did. It was worth it. Laughter gets rid of sore throats.. and headaches.
