When I think about the time/energy commitment that puppies take, I can't imagine doing that while going to school. I did it twice and decided next time I'll get an adult dog.
And guess who will ultimately end up with said puppy? Yup, one of the boy-child's parents. I know this from experience. Our son's dog AND our daughter's cat live with us. Dora's gettin' a sibling!
Good use of "NO", mom. My military son is missing our cats too but knows better than to get one since he'll be moving around a lot over the years and may be stationed in other countries. There's time down the road to enjoy pets.
For some reason boys (young men) always want to get a dog. We've had to deal with several of them so far (after our son lost interest). I say start with a plant first. If you can keep it alive for a year, then you can graduate to a pet. Right?

Ha ha that's a classic. Like life isn't stressful enough without adding a puppy to the situation!
I have the feeling that this may not be the end of it!
Ha and I'm first!

How funny! That was a very close call....
Like Annie said....my b-i-l and s-i-l wound up with two big dogs from #2 son!
Good job averting puppy disaster!
I could understand The Bird wanting a puppy but Augie? I am surprised. But I commend his heart wanting to win out over his head ... maybe a cat?
yeah, keep up the good fight mama or dora will have a sibling soon!
LOL!!
I've never learned to say no. Good for you!
However, I'll stay tuned. :)
I think we should all place bets on this one LOL!!
I know your knees are still sore but try and put your foot down REAL hard on this one hahahahaha
