40 Years Ago Today

40 years ago today was the last day of school for the year.
I was in third grade, and very excited this Christmas.
Not only was Santa due in a few days,
but my mother was in the hospital this very day.
And I was sure she was bringing me a baby sister.
I already had a younger brother.
He was of no use to me.

So when I got home and was informed that I had another baby brother?
I cried.
I sat down and had myself a big ol' pity party.

Little did I know, that in a few short days,
I would have my own doll.
And I have never looked back.

Happy 40th Birthday Baby Lamb!

Enjoy your day.
I love you.

Oh, Mama! So very sweet this morning. (sniff..sniff) Life offers us many opportunities. Family is what is is all about. Friends come and go but family is forever.
Happy Birthday with your Brother!
(my dutch husband's family says this all the time)

Happy birthday to your brother. Glad that doll thing worked out for you - not Betsy Wetsy doll, but a real live pooper.

Heh- I wonder if "Baby Lamb" ever felt he was being led to slaughter, with an older brother and sister?

Many happy returns to both of you!

Happiest of birthdays to your baby brother...my older girl's use to dress up their baby brothers in ballet tutus and hair bows...I have photos as proof. As for myself...I had only sisters...my dad told me we were all boys until he drove over the railroad tracks on the way to the hospital though. My Dad was a riot like that.

What a glorius family you have there. Are you survivng okay? Do I need to send reinforcements such as wine? I will go grab the virginia girls and we will be right there...just say the word.

marlene--You wouldn't believe how many dresses, peignoirs, wedding outfits and skirts that poor baby had to wear before he could outrun me!

Oh life can be full of little disappointments can't it...no sister. Oh Boo hoo hoo!!! You are so funny, glad you got a good doll out of it!
I wouldn't trade either of my brothers for one sister. Disappointed..not at all. Happy 40th Birthday to your baby brother!

This is so sweet. I too cried when my mother came home with a baby. I was twelve and I already had three younger brothers. My mom brought my little sister home and I was as jealous as could be because I was still the apple of my dad's eye, the youngest girl. Darned baby sister. But I love her to pieces.
